Althea Double Trouble Box Unboxing & First Impressions
If you have been a follower of my blog, or if you’ve been reading beauty blogs, I’m sure by now, you’re already familiar of Althea. It’s where you can find affordable Korean beauty products. One of the things they’re also famous at is their beauty boxes. It’s where they curate a selection of mostly full-sized (sometimes deluxe-sized but it’s super rare) products for an unbelievably low price. The price you pay for the entire box is like only one of the full-sized items you’re going to get. That’s why they often go out of stock, FAST, because they’re such a huge bargain. I was able to review one before here, if in case you’re interested.
Kiss troubles goodbye with the Althea Double Trouble box. This box is especially curated for girls with blemished, troubled skin or acne-prone skin. I personally don’t have problematic skin, but lately my skin’s been acting up so this box is quite timely. Below are the items that I got inside the box as well as my thoughts about them.
Damior Bamboo Leaf Cleansing Soap had multiple claims and multiple uses as per the website. These natural handmaid soaps contain Bamboo Extract that has cooling properties and natural ingredients which are fermented for 45 days. Damior Cleansing Soap is highly recommended for those with irritated skin, clogged skin due to excessive sebum and feeling tight and dry after cleansing..
The soap really smells good and I prefer to slice it in little pieces so that I can further utilize it. It really cleanses my face and it doesn’t have that ‘tight’ or dry feeling afterwards. Despite the soap being targeted for those who are acne-prone or for those who have irritated skin, I find myself using this nearly everyday.
This toner claims to prevent blemishes, wrinkles and breakouts. Keep your skin healthy while balancing the water and oil content of your skin. Finally, it claims to hydrate, restore balance and nourish the health of your skin.
I have been using this ever since I got this and I LAH-ove it. The smell of lychee is so refreshing, definitely, something you don’t encounter a lot in facial toners. This toner is also effective in removing residues. I also love that it doesn’t have a stinging effect and my face feels fresh each and after every use.
Ladykin Fresh Watermelon Icing Gel Bar claims to be enriched with 90% watermelon extract. It also promises to hydrate your skin while also soothing it with it’s cooling effect. Finally, claims to revive fatigued skin and keep your skin smooth and radiant. With it’s bigger size, you can use it not only on your face, but also to your legs, arms, and body.
I have been using this quite often ever since I got it and I love its cooling effect. It’s really hydrating, lightweight, and it sets immediately. It’s great underneath makeup and I love the watermelon scent too! This product will be so useful next year during summer!
Targeted for those with sensitive skin, this mask claims to soothe redness and irritations. The product has four main ingredients: Dragon blood resin extract – mainly used for wounds, swellings and scars, Portulaca extract – effective in promoting skin elasticity, Allantoin – known to strengthen our skin’s barriers and soften our skin’s texture and finally, Vegetable squalane – contains 40% skin lipids, to prevent moisture loss and keep skin healthy and hydrated.
This mask reminds me of the Laneige Sleeping Mask only that this is a bit more greasy and tacky even after I wake up. Perhaps its due to the added oils and because it’s geared towards those with sensitive/irritated skin. Similar to the Laneige Sleeping Mask, this has a lightweight, gel consistency and it has a faint scent definitely not overwhelming. I prefer to use this during my day (or night) offs due to its texture. Compared to my other sleeping masks, this is something that I have to wash off my face after I wake up because I can still feel it in my face the morning after. But I love the fact that it keeps my skin soft, plump and hydrated each and after every use.
Skinfood Trouble Clear Spot Patch
This product claims to heal pimples faster. Comes with resealable pack with 24 patches in three different sizes. It protects your pimples from further contact while also healing it and keeping it hydrated.
I have to admit I haven’t used this yet. When I took these photos, I didn’t have breakout and I’m proud to say that up until now, though my skin’s all red, and acting up, I don’t have a pimple to use this for. I’m keeping this for future use because I’ve heard really great things about this and I have high expectations about this one.
This is targeted for who are in need of serious spot treatment. Claimed to have Salicylic Acid (helps genuinely remove dead cells and prevents skin irritation), Witch Hazel Extract (helps protect and soothe skin), and Dryopteris Crassirhizoma Extract (helps clear skin tone), you’re supposed to apply a few drops of this product via a cotton bud onto your troubled spots before sleeping and watch it disappear the next day.
Just like the Skinfood Patch, I was not able to use this because of the reason I mentioned earlier. However, I gave this to my best friend because I know she needs it more than I do. FYI, you need to wait for the powder to settle before you dip your cotton bud onto the solution. This can be a problem if you’re in a hurry or already sleepy because it does take a while for ALL the powder to settle. Also, according to her, there’s a bit of a cooling to tingling sensation upon application, but her pimples did not disappear overnight as stated. She considers it as a nice regimen/help but not a major HG because it did not live up to its claims. She’s still using the solution up to this day.
This Claims to hydrate the skin for a healthy, balanced complexion. Contains Hydroxyethil Urea, Saccharide Isomerate, Glacial Water, Sea Salt Series, and Gardenia Fruit, all aimed towards keeping our skin fresh, healthy and hydrated.
I forgot to take a photo of me wearing & opening this because I used this at night and I took product shots during the day time (#bloggerissues). Besides, when it comes to masks, I got way to excited. Anyhoo, compared to the other masks that I’ve tried, I find this quite unique as this has two protective mesh covers, protecting the main “bio-cellulose”mask in the middle (kinda like a sandwich effect). The mesh covers help the serum to remain just in the mask itself rather than going all over the packaging.
I left it in for about 30 minutes (even though you’re supposed to leave it in for only 20 mins tops #pasaway) and upon application it has a nice cooling effect. It feels really nice and soothing. The mask also fits nicely onto my big, round face. You know there are some masks that fits weird, this one doesn’t. After removing, my face feels really soft, supple and indeed moisturized.
All in all, I highly recommend each and every one of these products. Unfortunately the box is no longer in stock as this was sent to me last August (I had some major/personal issues which I will be explaining in a future vlog) but you can still buy them individually as they are still available (except for the Skinfood Patches). I also believe that Althea will offer a beauty box similar to this one soon, so I suggest you subscribe to their newsletter so that you’ll be notified whenever they release a new one.
Like I said, their beauty boxes are so worth it and even if you just want ONE of the items inside that box, you can still get the entire box. Trust me! It’s like the best birthday present ever (even though it’s not your birthday). I love Althea Korea and I don’t know how else to rave about this website because this website for me is heaven (and hell because there’s a lot of temptation here, lol).
If you haven’t tried Althea’s beauty boxes yet, or even their website, seriously girl?! Try it and I’ll tell you, you’ll get hooked like me. Mwahahahaha!!! >;)
(that’s my evil laugh btw :P)
