Quick SephoraPH Haul feat. Burt’s Bees Lip Products – Initial Thoughts & Swatches
If you’ve been following my blog for quite some time know, you’ll know that I love Burt’s Bees. I’ve used a lot of their skincare products and as you may already know, their lip balms are my total HG lip hydrating products. Their skincare line is amazing…. especially their Intense Hydration line. Oh! And my ultimate fave is their Beeswax Hand Cream! (You can view all of the Burt’s Bees reviews, etc that I posted before here)
So as you can imagine, I’m already a die hard fan of their skincare line and their lip balms. But what I haven’t tried yet, are their makeup products. Especially their lipsticks. I have heard SOO MUCH buzz about their lipsticks and I have been wanting to give them a try for quite some time now. Well, no time like the present…. Here are the stuff that I got so far..
So first let’s start with the only lip crayon that I got. It already comes with a lip balm which is such a HUGE bargain! Can you believe that?!! You guys already know that I’m such a sucker for both lip balms and lip crayons so this purchase wont really surprise you anymore.
As always, both of these lip products are very hydrating. With regards to the lip crayon, however, according to what I’ve gathered before getting this, this one claims to have a matte finish. Well, yes and no. It has a very soft matte finish. If you’re thinking that it will look like the ones that you see from the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms, then no. The matte formulation of this one is pretty unique. It just eliminates the shine and the color is not as vibrant.
Now before you ask me if it’s pigmented or not… let me tell you now, YES it is pigmented. But the look and the finish that you get is just not as similar as the ones that you get from all those chubby lip pencils that are coming out recently. This, I think is a breath of fresh air, because they’re all being kind of similar to each other, while Burt’s Bees has its own take on the matte aspect of the lip crayon. I will do an in depth review about this don’t worry. But for now, all I can tell you is that yes, it’s matte, but no, it’s not too matte. It has a nice creamy texture that goes on smoothly and it’s very lightweight.
Now let’s move on to another set of lip products… their 100% natural lipsticks. Loves, let me tell you.. I have been wanting to get this ever since EmilyNoel on YT started raving about this. As you can see, the packaging is really nice. That’s actually one of the things that caught my attention. It got me curious what it’s made of because it’s soo pretty. Then prior to getting these, I read somewhere that the packaging is recyclable. How cool is that?!
Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lipstick comes in 14 shads and Sephora PH carries ALL of these shades. So far, I got five. I got the shades 502 Suede Splash, 511 Magenta Rush, 515 Tulip Tide, 523 Sunset Cruise and finally 530 Lily Lake. I wanted to see it’s pigmentation, how it would look on me, etc. But before we dive into that, what I can tell you for now is that these lip products are really REALLY hydrating. I thought the formula and the texture was similar to Revlon Lip Butters, but no. It’s far better than that. As long as you have these on your lips, your lips will stay hydrated the entire time. It’s not as long lasting though so you will need to retouch from time to time but still. I’m very impressed on how hydrating these lipsticks are.
With regards to the pigmentation, these lipsticks have a decent color payoff. They stay true to color, however, they’re not as vibrant. Their formula is very sheer and may not be suitable for those with heavily pigmented lips, like moi for instance. So you might want to steer clear of the lighter shades. The shades that really worked out for me, are 511, 523 and 530. And like I said, they don’t last as long and they transfer, so re-application is necessary.
So those are all of the products that I got from Sephora PH and my initial thoughts about them. Please stay tuned for my full on/in-depth review about these products because I will be including a lot more stuff that I wasn’t able to smoosh in this post.
