Colourpop Lippie Stix Matte X in ‘Chateau’ – Review, Photos & Swatches
Feel fancy as fu** in this warm- tone blackened red in Matte X finish
Matte X is a high intensity full coverage pigment with one stroke application. This long wearing formula has the smoothest, most velvety glide with a SUPER matte finish!

I’ve always liked the lippie’s applicator. It allows me to be precise when applying the lip color, specially the darker ones. I’m not too keen on the entire packaging due to its white exterior. It attracts dust like crazy and it’s very hard to clean! I wish that they can come up with a better color, like the color of the shade? or black for instance?
Colourpop refers to this shade as a warm-toned, blackened red shade in Matte X finish. The shade reminds me of Mac’s Glambattista Vali in ‘Eugene’ only that’s a bit more reddish (and this is a lot more smoother in terms of application, which I’ll get to later) and Happy Skin’s Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie in Hot Stuff only this is a bit darker, much more opaque and definitely matte (as in definitely!). If you’re not into bold shades, then this is not the right shade for you because you can’t sheer it out. One single application/swipe is all you need to cover your entire lips and then you’re done!
Compared to Colourpop’s Matte Lippie Stix that I have, this has more of a drier yet creamy feel. I know that sounded confusing. Matte lippies from Colourpop tend to have a bit of moisture/shine. They’re soft and they glide on easily when swatched and when applied. Matte X, however, looks drier in appearance. They really look matte even from the bullet itself. But they’re still very creamy and they glide on super smooth. No tugging at all!
With regard to its longevity, I am quite impressed. It lasted on me for full six hours, seven hours max. It did fade a bit when I ate/drank but it lasted for the entire day. Oh, and once it sets, it barely transfers, unlike most of the matte lippies that I own. It’s also very lightweight and it doesn’t feel tacky whatsoever. One thing to note, though is that it tends to get drying over time. So if you have severely dry lips them you might want to keep a lip balm handy or apply one beforehand.
Overall, I’m really in love with this lippie and I wish I got more shades! If you like the opacity of those liquid matte lipsticks but you hate the feel, or you have severely dry lips, you might want to try this one. For A it’s not that expensive (they’re $5 a pop which makes them roughly Php 300-350 on our local resellers) B they’re super lightweight (sure they get drying over time, but they don’t suck the life out of your lips and they don’t set like cement, lol).
