Typical to most BB cushions/cushion foundations, this one comes with a thick plastic compact exterior with a rose gold metallic finish. Like others, this one comes with a sponge placed in a separate section, while the BB cream is at the bottom perfectly sealed. The BB cushion also pops out but I doubt if you’ll be able to find a refill for this one.
Maybelline Super BB Cushion I believe, offers two shades – Natural and Light. I got the shade 02 Light. The shade perfectly matches my skin tone. It has more of a neutral undertone, which is perfectly fine by me. If you’re NC 25-30 then this might be your best bet.
The texture and consistency of this one is more on the creamy side but it’s very lightweight. It’s also very easy to apply and blend using the sponge that’s included. I prefer using the sponge because it looks flawless when I’m done but it totally depends on your preference whether you would like to use a different applicator. But the sponge is definitely sturdy and very usable so I highly recommend it.
This offers more of a light to medium yet buildable coverage. It perfectly evens out my skin tone, cover my rednesses, dark spots and slight imperfections. However, it cannot totally hide my dark under eye circles and perfectly cover my broken capillaries. For situations such as those, you will need the help of your trusty concealer. But if you only have minor imperfections on your skin, then this will do.
What I also like about this product is that compared to other cushion foundations or BB cushions, this does not give me an overly dewy finish. Also, despite its neutral undertone, it does not look grey on me. Whether I use a powder with additional coverage or just a translucent powder, this BB cushion just gives me that natural made up look that I want with my cushion foundations. It does not look or feel heavy on my skin.
This has been my goto cushion ever since I got it and sometimes I don’t wear a primer with it. Without a primer, this can last me for 4-5 hours, depending on the weather. If I am going outside, under the heat of the sun, then that’s a different story. However, if I’m just inside an air conditioned building/room, then this lasts me for quite some time.
However, I would like to remind you though, that I do have a normal to dry skin tone. If you have an oily skin, then this might not be your best bet. I believe that there are still other cushion foundations that are great for oily skin. This is just not one of those. As previously mentioned, this is also not the best when you’re going out in the sun for the entire day. This cannot withstand heat and sweat. I brought this with me when we went to Hong Kong and I wore it, with primer, and we walked in the city the entire day. It only lasted for 2 hours. By lunch, hulas na muka ko. Daig pa ako ng mga pamangkin ko.
Though, that’s not to say that I don’t recommend the product. In fact, I highly do. However, if you’re often out in the sun because you commute a lot, or if you sweat a lot, or if you have oily skin, then this might not be the ideal product for you.
Overall, despite the notes that I have mentioned, I still love this product and like I said, it has been my goto ever since I got it. I highly recommend it to those who have normal to dry skin types. If you’re into natural looking bases, or if you would like to try cushion foundations but find them a bit too pricey, then you might like to try this one. Sure this is also a bit pricey (Php 750 a pop) but it’s a lot more affordable than other brands.
