Cathy Doll Geisha Hanazakari Lip Matte in #2 Pink Moss – Review, Photos & Swatches

It’s no secret that I’ve always been a fan of liquid lip creams. Like seriously. I mean, you know this, right? That’s why when I got the Cathy Doll Geisha Hanazakari Lip Matte in my loot bag, I got so excited, I knew I had to review it for you guys.

Cathy Doll Geisha Hanazakari Lip Matte comes in 5 different shades, ranging from pinks, reds to deep wine colors. Unfortunately, I only have this one which is #2 Pink Moss. The packaging’s fairly simple. It comes in a clear plastic tube, allowing you to see the color more accurately. The packaging also shows the name of the shade, how many months the product will last from the moment you open it, net weight, and some details as to where it is formulated. It also comes with a common doe-foot applicator for precise application.

#2 Pink Moss is a bright pink shade yet I still find it wearable. However, if you find this a bit too bold for you, you can definitely sheer it out by applying only one layer or blotting with a tissue paper. This shade is also very pigmented and a single swipe can cover your entire lips. But it’s also very buildable, and you can apply each layer simultaneously. I actually prefer applying 2-3 layers until I get my preferred intensity. But like I said, you can definitely sheer it out. It’s really just a matter of preference.

Compared to the liquid matte lip creams that are coming out today, (ie. Colourpop, Jeffree Star, Kylie, etc) the Hanazakari Lip Mattes are a lot more lightweight and hydrating. However, (I’m not sure if this applies to all of the shades) it does take a while to set. But once it sets, it gives you a soft, demi-matte finish. What I do love about this is that it applies evenly and it does not cling onto the dry patches of my lips. There’s also no need for a lip balm before or after using this lip product.

One more thing to take note of regarding this lip product is it’s longevity. It is not long lasting nor transfer proof. If you kiss, eat or drink, it will transfer and you will need to re-apply. There’s no problem in terms of retouching, like I said layering is not really a problem when it comes to this lip product. However, if you are looking for a lip product that will stay onto your lips for a longer amount of time, then this might not be it

Overall, I find this lip product good for day to day use. I like that I don’t have to think about applying a lip balm beforehand and it feels as though I have nothing on my lips. However, if I want something that’s a bit more long lasting and transfer proof, then this isn’t really something that I will use. I also wish that they will come with more shades – like mauvey, neutral shades? Just to balance the pinks and the reds.

And yes, I do recommend this lip product to those of you who are looking for an affordable, hydrating, and lightweight liquid matte lip creams. This is especially ideal for those with really dry lips but would definitely love to get into the liquid matte lipstick trend.

Parang nxy soft matte lip cream sya I do like that kind of liquid kasi I have dry lips, medyo bright nga ung color but still looks great on you

    • Yes, it does remind me of Nyx SMLC. Yun nga lang lahat ng mga colors nila, they lean on pinks & reds and they’re on the brighter side. But this one’s really good especially if you have dry lips

another liquid lipstick I havent tried yet. Anyway, so far, I’m digging Jazzy France’s liquid lipstick in Ice Princess as it doesnt suck the moisture out of my lips, very light-weight and comfortable and I love it’s neutral shade too! I’d like to try the other shades but i do not want to swatch the testers on my lips so I decided to buy Ice Princess instead by just looking at the testers.

    • It’s been years since I tried Jazzy France’s liquid lippies. Gotta try those again!

Never tried any liquid lipstick. But i am into matte. But i think that would be too bright for my skin color. I’m a typical morena and sobrang conscious ako with my lips, hahaha hindi ako biniyayaan ng magandang lips so yun, as much as possible I wear color na hindi pansinin at walang shine or gloss. I’ve heard that the Cathy Doll is available now in 7-11 stores nationwide.

Love the color payoff! How much is it? I also love bold lipsticks especially at night. And I currently love pinks, reds and neutrals. As for the brands, I’m currently loving Nyx SMLC, Coloupop and LA Girl. Wanted to try Kylie pero di pa ko ready bumili ng ganung kamahal. haha. Feeling ko kasi, same na same lang sila ng Colourpop. Is Cathy Doll available in SM stores? I wanted to try some of their products.
