BUDGET BEAUTY SERIES – Pink Sugar Sugar Tints (First Release) – Review, Photos & Swatches

If you’ve been following me for quite some time, you’ll know that this product that I’m about to review has been a favorite of mine since months ago. Ever since I got them, in fact. These are the Pink Sugar Sugar Tint Lip and Cheek TintFYI though, I know they came up with another batch of shades (the nude ones) but first I’ll be reviewing the ones that were originally released when they came out with their own makeup line. I’ll also be reviewing the “lip tint” aspect of this product, I haven’t used this as a cheek tint yet. I’m sure some used it as such, but I haven’t. But let me know if you’re interested for a first impression.

I already took lots of product shots of this one back when these were new, or back when I first got my hands on ’em. But sadly, like I said before, I accidentally deleted all of my stock photos so I ended up gradually retaking some of my photos. This includes one of them. So I hope you forgive me for the quality of the product because I’ve already been using some of these shades non-stop way waaay back.

The Sugar Tints come in a simple, yet straight-forward plastic tube. It’s not transparent but every color is a spot on representative of their shade. I even like the font, the illustration, frankly I find the packaging cute. It also comes with a doe-foot wand allowing you to spread the product easily, whether on to your lips or onto your cheeks. The only thing I don’t like about the packaging is that when you take it out of the box, the tube is not labeled with the shade’s name so it’s really confusing specially with the pink shades because they’re somehow similar.

The first batch, the ones that were released last year, comes with 5 shades: Purple Pleasure, Pink Passion, Pink Paradise, Red Rouge and Coral Bliss. These shades are very summer appropriate  since they’re all bright and “cheery”, and they can easily brighten up your look specially if you pair them with neutral eye looks.

As mentioned, I prefer to use this as a liquid lipstick, but despite being used as such, I find the texture of this a bit sticky when applied. When the product’s brand new, it’s actually a bit moussey but the more you use it, the product gets thicker and a bit drier. But I would like to take note, that it does not affect the pigmentation or the coverage that the product provides. It merely affects the formula/consistency.

PURPLE PLEASURE

A beautiful orchid-violet shade. Matches every skin-tone

PINK PARADISE

A nice blue-toned hot pink shade. Suitable for most skin tones

PINK PASSION

An electric pink shade with a hint of coral. Perfect for summer.

I really love this shade! This was actually one of the first lipsticks I’ve ever tried from the brand I can’t stop using this even up to now. It’s that perfect statement lipstick that you’ve always wanted to try but won’t because you’re afraid it might be too dark, but actually it’s not, lol. I’ve never met anyone who hated this shade. I believe, it’s also one of their best sellers.  It’s very easy to apply, and it goes on evenly with just a single coat.

This is also one of my favorite shades. Despite it being a brighter shade, I still find it wearable and suitable for most occasions. I also love that it glides on smoothly and it’s quite easy to even out.

If you’re looking for a lip color that you can rock this summer then look no further! It’s a perfect pink shade that will look good on your photos with the beach or pool on your background. It’s really pretty. It’s also one of those shades that are very easy to apply and even out.

RED ROUGE

A beautiful tomato-red shade with a hint of coral.

CORAL BLISS

A bright, electric coral shade. Almost neon

I’m not really into warm-toned or tomato-red lippies but I’m actually liking this lately. It also offers a good coverage and it glides on easily. If you’re not into really deep or va-va-voom reds, then you might want to try this.

This shade is actually the LEAST of my favorite. It’s very patchy and really dry for some reason. I really had a hard time applying this and evening it out. I also found out that I wasn’t the only one having a hard time with lipstick. Usually, I find that liquid lipsticks with really light and bright colors have a really patchy and chalky consistency. This was no different.

These sugar tints offer great pigmentation. As in a little goes a long way. Coverage-wise, red, pinks and the purple can cover your entire lips with just one to two coats, but you may have a problem with the coral shade, as I’ve mentioned earlier. If you layer on too much (2 or more coats), you may feel the lip product a bit too thick and that’s not really a good feeling and it doesn’t look good either. In terms of application, most of them glided on smoothly and but they will feel sticky for a while. But once it sets, it sets.

Another thing I love about this is the scent. I’m not really into scented makeup but the scent of this one reminds me of my favorite lollipop for some reason. If you’re not into scented makeup then you might not like this one, but I seriously doubt that because this might remind you of your favorite candies back when you were a kid. Anyway, the scent may be a bit heavy but it’s not overwhelming, at least for me. And once you apply it, it quickly fades.

As for the longevity, this lasts on me for a good 4-5 hours without retouching, provided I don’t eat really oily foods. This really isn’t drying on me, HOWEVER, I make sure that I prime my lips with a lip balm prior to application. This does’t settle onto my dry parts of my lips as well but I highly suggest that you exfoliate prior to application. I don’t suggest this to people with severely dry lips because the texture may be a bit thick for you especially the more you use it. But, if you are sucker for lip balms like me, then go on.

Overall, (and evidently) I’m really in love with these sugar tints and I’m really happy that they came up with new shades. I’ll review those ASAP this time, I promise. I can’t believe that a local cosmetic brand came up with such good, quality liquid lip products. As mentioned, I prefer to use them as lip products, but if you would like me to try using them for my cheeks then let me know and I’ll try to do a first impression.

Gosh I love the pink shades especially Pink Passion which I am eyeing for. Does it transfer on your cup when you drink or the food you eat?
Please do a first impression for the cheeks Would love to read that… haven’t tried any of their products yet…

    • It takes a while to set but once it sets, it’s transfer proof.

I actually love all the shades except forbthe coral bliss. Purple pleasure and pink passion are my favorites. Hope you can review of their newest shades also:)

    • I’ll do that as soon as I’ve posted all of my reviews about the Pink Sugar lippies (the ones that were released last year) .

I am most likely a fan of neutrals but i could say that i love all of the first three shades (on the photos)! I could totally wear them for sure. I haven’t tried this one yet despite reading and seeing a lot of good reviews about it. I have been totally committed with Colourpop that other liquid lipsticks doesn’t catch my attention except for Jeffree Star’s and Kylie’s lip kit (that I can’t buy ’cause they are expensive af). I already saw the new shades and I think that I’ll buy one from it. Can’t wait for your review!

    • Me too! I would love to try Jeffree Star & Kylie Lip Kits but they’re oh so expensive! I already have the new shades and as soon as I post all of my review regarding the lippies that were released last year, I’ll be able to post that.

I got confused with the Captions/Pictures. Is that Pink Paradise or Pink Pleasure? ‘Cos I like that shade! Never tried these babies before and other Pink Sugar Cosmetics either. I’m not into liquid lipsticks, I’m having a hard time applying them.

    • Hahah. I totally get it especially in my case.. I have both and they don’t have their shade names in their tube packaging (not sure if they changed it now, but the new shades have it at the bottom). It’s totally confusing! Pink Paradise is more blue-toned compared to Pink Passion. Pink Passion is more of a summer pink kind of shade. And there’s no Pink Pleasure. There’s a Purple Pleasure though.

Compared to other liquid lipsticks, this is not as liquidy as those, this is more moussey so I think it’s a lot easier to apply and it takes a while to set so you can still use either your fingers/cotton buds to get rid of some minor mishaps
