My Top Red Lipstick Choices
Hi loves! How was your Valentine’s Day? Did you celebrate it with your loved one? Family? Or are you currently single? Working? It’s okay. I personally believe that if you really love someone you should celebrate it every time. You don’t need a specific day for it. Besides, going out on a Valentine’s Day is hectic. It was my Mama’s birthday yesterday and whenever we go out during V-Day, everywhere it’s crowded so we prefer just to stay home and have some food delivered. Now I sound like a bitter, old, single, lady. Lol. Anyhoo…
This was supposed to be posted yesterday or at least days before Valentine’s but things have been hectic. But whatevz, red lipsticks never go out of style, right? In this blog post, I will be sharing you my 6 Favorite Drugstore Lipsticks plus some bonus ones and one that’s not drugstore but still my top favorite. So without further ado, let’s start…
Preview X Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie in ‘Hot Stuff’ – I love this because it’s definitely moisturizing and very easy to apply. Plus, it’s one of those reds that makes a statement. If you’re not into really bright red lipsticks then you might like this one. It’s a bit on the darker side, but it’s still a lot more wearable compared to the other red shades that I’m about to show you in this post.
I know that this is not a drugstore product but it’s definitely worth the price. It’s only worth Php 645 if you buy it individually and Php 1,099 if you buy the entire set (which I did). This is still available online if in case you’re interested. I also have a detailed review about this as well here.
Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipstick in ‘Diva’ – ‘Diva’ is a deep, bold, blue-based red. Pink Sugar has three reds in their creamy matte collection and this is my favorite. I love that it makes a statement and it brightens up my look without the extra effort. It’s something that you would wear during events, but you can pull it off during the day time too.
It’s also very moisturizing and it ain’t that pricey! They only costs Php 349! I promise to review these lippies soon
Maybelline Velvet Matte Lip Creams in ‘Mat 11’ – I love this shade. This was actually the one I got from BeautyMNL and I love it because among all of the lip creams in the entire line, it’s definitely the most pigmented. The entire line consists of 4 reds and this is also the deepest, most opaque of all four.
This is quite moisturizing but despite it’s claim, it doesn’t set for at least 30 mins to an hour. I have a review about it here. These lip creams costs Php 345.
Revlon Lip Butters in ‘Red Velvet’ – It’s definitely intimidating when you look at it right off the tube, but it’s not as opaque compared to the other lipsticks that are featured in this entry either. It’s one of those red lipsticks that you can use when you’re not into that idea yet.
If you would like to dip your toes into red lipsticks but you’re hesitant because you feel that it’s too bold or bright, etc, you might want to try this one. Like I said, it’s not as opaque, you can sheer it out, and it’s very moisturizing. Longevity’s a bit of an issue, but then again, this is a lip butter. Revlon Lip Butters costs Php 575 at the mall but you can buy them cheaper online.
Avon Ultra Color Matte Lipstick in ‘Merlot’ – I’m not sure if this line is still available but I’m betting they still are. Anyhoo, in real life/personally, this shade is quite similar to Happy Skin’s Hot Stuff so if you feel that Hot Stuff is a bit pricey and you have an Avon lady in your area, you might want to try this one. This is only worth Php 379 if I’m not mistaken.
Again, this is my fave because of it’s dark shade and it’s definitely something you can wear when you’re lazy putting on you’re entire makeup. Lol. Srsly though, if you’re haggard and you want to keep the attention off your eyes then put some red lipstick and you’re good to go. But as for me, this has been my go to back in December 2014. It’s very creamy, very easy to apply, and it’s not flat out matte so it’s wont leave your lips dry and flaky by the end of the day.
Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in ‘Love That Red’ – Finally, this one. Come on? If you don’t have this in your collection, where have you been? It’s very inexpensive, and it definitely makes a statement. It’s one of those red lipsticks that’s very easy to wear and doesn’t take a lot of time getting used to.
Also, despite it’s matte formulation, it’s not that drying as well. It’s quite creamy and very easy to apply. It lasts for a decent amount of time and you can find this practically everywhere. This only costs Php 165 if I’m not mistaken so if you’re just a newbie and would like to try red matte lipsticks or matte lipsticks for that matter, try Ever Bilena.
BONUS: Nichido Lip Pencil in ‘Blaze’ – I only have ONE red lip pencil and it’s this one. Nichido lip pencils are really good regardless of the color so if you’re looking for a red lip color then try this one.
BONUS: Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in ‘Riri Woo’ – I actually don’t have a lot of mid-range/high-end red lipsticks in fact I only have two. This and the MAC & Marilyn Monroe Satin Lipstick in ‘Love Goddess. I love Riri Woo because its formulation is REALLY matte and despite how drying it is, it definitely makes a statement and can brighten up any look. I don’t wear this often but when I do, I get a lot of compliments. I have a review about this here.
SO there you go, those are my all-time favorite red lipsticks. I really don’t wear red lipsticks that often to be quite honest. But when I do, it’s usually during the Holidays and during special occasions. However, if I feel like wearing one, I wear it for a long time, non-stop. So most if not all of these lippies have been tried and tested.
Again, I’m sorry if this post did not make it before Valentine’s but it’s always a nice reference to go back to. How about you? What are your favorite red lipsticks? Let me know.
