Pink Sugar Eye Candy Eyeshadow Palettes – Review, Photos & Swatches
Hi loves! How’s your week so far? Mine’s well.. blah. Haha. Anyway,Last October 15, 2015, Pink Sugar, a local brand well-known for their body mists, came out with a full line of cosmetics. For the face, cheeks, eyes, lips, anything! I was blown away by the selection that they came up with. If you haven’t seen my vlog and my blog post about their launching, feel free to read more about it here. All of their products are very promising and one of my favorites, as I mentioned are their eyeshadow palettes.
Product Claims according to BeautyMNL:
Expert selection of matte and shimmer shades; finely-milled powder adheres to skin beautifully; features spring-inspired smoky hues and earthy, urban colors; comes in a mirrored compact with a dual-ended applicator
Their packaging is fairly simple and direct to the point. Both palettes come with this sleek, black, plastic yet sturdy packaging, and it snaps tight when closed. This can be an issue when you have both palettes, since the packaging is very identical to each other (especially when you combine it with their face powder, which I will get to later) so I suggest if you’re travelling and you’re taking one of these with you, read the label first and remember which is EC-01 and EC-02. Hehe.
It comes with a mirror big enough for makeup application or retouching along with a dual-ended applicator. I’m personally not a fan of these types of applicators, but it can definitely become handy especially when travelling. Speaking of travelling, these palettes are as big as their face powders. (smaller than an iPhone 6, slightly bigger than the Naked Basics palette) So given the amount of shadows that you’re going to get and the size of the palette, let’s just say I found my new travelling buddy.
Each palette comes with 10 shades: 4 are matte then the rest are shimmery. EC-01 has more cool-toned, taupe-ish shades and the palette’s pop of colors leans more to the (minty/forest) green side of the spectrum. This is excellent if you are not afraid to experiment with your eyeshadow colors. The mint green shade in this palette is just to die for! EC-02, on the other hand, my personal favorite, is more day time friendly. It’s for us who are just looking for something versatile, that we can wear on a daily basis, but it can also offer us something more should we need it for special events, night outs, etc.
These babies are richly pigmented and they have a nice color payoff. Majority of the shades in each palette are soft, buttery smooth and creamy to the touch. The shimmery shades are just gorgeous, they show up really well especially with a primer underneath. And that minty green shade? I’ve had a number of palettes featuring the same shade and for some reason none of them can do the pigmentation and the texture right whenever they get to that color. But trust me with this palette, it’s buttery and pigmented AF.
The mattes are also good considering that they came from a local drugstore brand. Matte shades are not the easiest to produce and sometimes with drugstore brands, mattes are either a hit or miss. Another thing that I do love about these palettes are that none them are powdery nor chalky. Sure there are one or two shades that are a bit drier and may be a bit patchy but they’re very workable and in the end all of them are very blendable and dare I say, they “mesh” together.
I’ve been using these palettes for a while now and I’ve never been disappointed. As mentioned before, they have been my travel buddies especially EC-02. I love their color combination and I love that they’re very easy to work with. They last on my lids the entire day with an ordinary primer, and they don’t crease.
Overall, I am very happy with these palettes and I love them to bits. I just wish they come up with more palettes, more shades and more color combination. Be adventurous and go with wild and colorful shades. I haven’t seen a local drugstore brand come up with such shades so it’ll be awesome to see Pink Sugar diving into that trend.
