Matrix Cut for Cancer 2015 (w/ Vlog)

Matrix Cut for Cancer 2015

Last September 19, 2015, I was invited by Matrix to witness such touching and remarkable event. A thousand Filipinas & 100 hairdressers gathered together for the Matrix 8-Inch Cut For Cancer in its second year for the benefit of Filipino children stricken by cancer.

I vlogged during the event, and here’s basically what happened while I was there…

It was indeed very touching. I wish I can still donate and my hair’s a bit longer. But since I had my hair bleached, I can’t. The event’s very life-changing as tons of Filipinos said “yes” to have their hair cuts for a cause. In one of the most meaningful and successful haircut for a cause events in celebration of the Child Cancer Awareness Month, #1 American Salon Brand in Asia, Matrix, in partnership with David’s Salon– hosted the Matrix 8-Inch Cut for Cancer which pooled together a thousand Filipinas who took the challenge of chopping off and donating at least eight inches of their hair for the benefit of children braving cancer treatments under the care of Kythe-Ateneo.

An initiative under Matrix’s worldwide program called “Matrix Chairs of Change”, which allows salon communities and stylists to make a difference through their craft – the second run of Matrix 8-Inch Cut for Cancer campaign in the Philippines was powered by 100 hairdressers that day who pledged their time and talent for the cause.

Matrix Cut for Cancer celebrity ambassador, Maxene Magalona, who donated not just 8 but 10 inches of her hair last year, graced the event and made it even more special by passing on the torch to her sister, Saab Magalona-Bacarro. By giving a piece of her crowning glory, Saab reached out to the children who need concrete help and inspiration through an extraordinary way. During the event, the Magalona sisters shared how this generous act of encouraging more and more Filipinos to participate and accepting the challenge made a clear statement that in more ways than one, everyone can help alleviate the plight of children diagnosed with cancer

Wait, just wanna say again goodluck on beauty bound asia. Love your vids on YT:)

  • When I first read about this campaign, I was speechless because of joy. Our hair is our crowning glory, more so for the girls and I can only imagine how hard it is to let go of our precious locks. But then it is for a good cause. If only I didn’t have my hair chopped last April, I’d be one of those who donated their hair. If there’d be another event like these once my hair’s all grown, I’d surely participate ^-^
