Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Lip Balms – Quick Review

Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Lip Balms - Quick Review

You pretties know that I am such a sucker for lip balms. I love collecting them even though they offer a single purpose – to hydrate my lips. But still, I love ’em. Especially if they have a really cute packaging. That’s why when I saw these babies at the mall a few weeks ago, I knew I HAD to get them.

Product Claims/Descriptions according to the Maybelline Website:
A Baby Lips first – your favourite lip balm now comes in candy‑inspired colour and a new retractable crayon format! Hydrate your lips with the help of vitamin E plus get a glossy candy colour at the same time.

I believe this is only available in Asia though and these babies come in 4 shades. I only have three and I picked those which I thought would have more color payoff, or would provide more “tint”, if that makes sense. Let’s move on to the packaging.

You also know that as much as I am addicted to lip balms, I’m also into lip crayons. Which is why I couldn’t resist getting these. Maybelline Candy Wow Lip Balms, as mentioned, came in four shades and all of them came in these really cute chubby retractable lip crayons, perhaps due to the trend. They, however, have a much rounder tip maybe for easier application. It’s a lip balm, so you can really just slap these on to your lips even without a mirror. One more thing to note about these lip balms, which I also happen to like is that, ever since I’ve had these, none of their labels have faded on me. Which is such a common problem among lip crayons, in my opinion. #justsaying

They actually provide a decent color pay off when swatched but when worn, they only provide a sheer tint, which is pretty understandable since they’re after all, a lip balm. However, only ‘Raspberry’ and ‘Cherry’ stayed true to color. ‘Mixed Berry’ despite it’s really sweet scent, did not provide hint of color at all, at least in my lips.

All of them, though, are very moisturizing and they keep my lips hydrated for hours (6-8 hours max). My favorite is ‘Cherry’ and I wear it during my no-makeup days. I also alternate ‘Mixed Berry’ and ‘Raspberry’ at home when I feel like my lips are getting really dry and these babies are enough to keep them moisturized. Sometimes I don’t find myself reaching for my lip balm until it’s time for me to go to sleep, which is a plus for me.

I bought my Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow at SM Department store for Php 179. A bit more pricey than a regular Baby Lips lip balm, but lip crayons are totally in right now and I think it’s the really cute packaging that you’re somehow paying for.

All in all, I still prefer this over the other Baby Lips that I’ve tried. I think this is a bit more creamier and more hydrating than the others. These babies leave my lips feeling soft and supple while the others, such as the electro-pop make my lips feel even more chapped and flaky. However, I do think it still depends on your preference. Be advised, though, that despite the packaging, it only contained like an inch of lip balm (yes, I measured it with a ruler :P)

What about you, loves? Have you tried this version of the Baby Lips yet? Did you like it? What’s your favorite lip balm? If it’s the Maybelline Baby Lips, let me know what version/flavor. I might try it to. Let me know your thoughts. Ciao! ♡´・ᴗ・`♡

I’ve been seeing this lip balm but I haven’t tried it. I’m so glad that you review it Miss Yette. I’ve been a Chapstick user since 2000’s but lately, I’m loving the Hurraw lip balm because it helped to ease my flaky and chapped lips. I’ll check out this Maybelline Baby Lips Candy Wow Lip Balms, packaging is so cute! Thank you so much for your awesome review.

    • I tried using Chapstick but I wasn’t into them like I was into Lip Ice and Burt’s bees. IDK why. I might try one again soon. Anyway, I haven’t tried Hurraw since I think you can only get them online.

You’re welcome and thanks for dropping by!

I haven’t tried Lip Ice but Burt’s bees lip balm is so good!

  • Currently I only have 3 lip balms (the newest was from you Miss Yette☺) and one lip butter. I rarely use lip balms nowadays even though I know how important and helpful they are. Anyway, these have cool packaging and they look so cute too! Just a bit expensive for lip balms I think. Given the chance though, I’d love to give ‘Cherry’ a try! (^_^)

    • Yes they are a bit pricey. If you’re not into lip balms and you just want to give this one a try then go buy Cherry instead. At least it has the most color pay off.

      • I surely will Miss yette. Come next pay, I’ll grab one. Lately, I’ve added lipbalms to my must-haves. BTW, I love the Hello Kitty balm you sent me

The packaging is really cute indeed! I’m not into balms, I only used it night to moisturise my lips. The burt bees I received from you is the best so far I’ve tried, ever since I used it no more chapped lips:)

    • Yup, Burt’s bees is the bomb when it comes to lip balms. I’ve been using it for years. But Baby Lips is a cheaper alternative (not this version though).
