Colourpop Lippie Stix in Lumiere – Review, Photos & Swatches
This is also one of the reviews that are way overdue. Ever since Colourpop entered the makeup scene they made a really good impression especially in my makeup stash. I love their eyesahadows, their blush especially their lipsticks or as they call it, lippie stix. One of my favorite lipsticks from them is ‘Lumiere’, and here are my thoughts regarding this beauty.
First time I found out about this was from LeighAnnsays. She kept raving about this and it’s lip pencil. I didn’t know about Kathleen Lights back then. I saw the swatches and it was indeed really pretty. It was my type of mauvey, nude lippie. I knew I had to get one.
Product Claims/Descriptions from Colourpop:
A dusty mauve pink in a matte finish created by the lovely @KathleenLights – “I wanted a color that both bold and shy people could wear. It’s not a nude..it would look great on EVERYONE!”
All of Colourpop’s lippie stix have the same packaging. They all come in a slim, white tube with the color of the lipstick at the bottom, as well as its name. I also like it because compared to other lip crayons, this has a slanted tip so it’ll be a lot easier to use. The packaging is very simple and direct to the point. I like the colored accents (the one at the bottom of the tube and the one that shows when you remove the cap. It can be a dilemma when you’re trying to clean it since it’s still white no matter what, but I love the minimalistic design.
Colourpop refers to this shade as a ‘dusty mauve pink in a matte finish’ and I actually agree. I think everyone will love this shade even those who aren’t much into makeup. But for me, who really loves mauves, plums and nudes, this one’s perfect. I’ve worn this lots of times already and I’m still in love with it. One could never go wrong with this shade. If you’re like me who likes mauve, plums and nudes or if you’re just new into makeup and you want to start with a more versatile shade then get this one. You won’t regret it.
Despite having a matte finish, this doesn’t feel like a matte lippie to me. In fact, none of their matte lippies feel matte. They’re still very creamy and moisturizing. All of their lippies (except for the ‘sheer’ line) are very opaque and just a single layer can cover my entire lips. I also love their matte lippies because they’re non-drying and their staying power is quite impressive too.
I did notice, however, that it kinda looked like one of my fave lippies. It’s similar (but not a dupe) to Happy Skin’s Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie in ‘The Morning After’. This one’s just a bit more on the mauvey side rather while TMA is more pink/rosey. Further, TMA has a bit of a glossy finish while Lumiere is matte.
Because of its slanted tip, application was such a breeze. It’s slim so it can act as a lip pencil and it can reach the corner of my mouth and I can trace the shape of my mouth perfectly using the tip if needed. It glides on perfectly as well. It’s very creamy, and it’s pretty lightweight too.
Lumiere lasted on me for more than 5 hours and it also stained my lips. As mentioned, it’s non-drying and it doesn’t make my lips look and feel chappy after a couple of hours.
Colourpop smells so sweet, they smell like vanilla. Just like Mac lipsticks only a bit stronger but still.. sweet… if that makes sense. Nevertheless, if you like the smell of Mac lippies, I’m sure you’re going to love this one.

So those are all of my thoughts regarding Lumiere. If you ask me, it’s a no-brainer, you should totally get this one especially if you’re into that Kylie Jenner lip trend but even if you’re not I’m sure this shade will look perfect on you. Besides, Colourpop is not that expensive. It’s just not available here in our country, but a lot of online stores carry the brand.
How about you? What are your thoughts regarding this lippie? Do you own anything from the brand? What’s your favorite from them? What’s your favorite mauvey, nude lipstick? Let me know.
