Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette - Review, Photos & Swatches

Matte eyeshadows has always been my fave. As much as I love satin & shimmery finishes I believe that Matte shades are the easiest to pull of. That’s why when I saw this palette, I know I HAD TO get it for myself. I know I have something similar, which is the Viseart Palette, but I don’t use majority of the shades there. I only use the lighter ones. Perhaps that palette is really suitable for makeup artists. That’s why I sold it and got this one instead. Anyway, I never regretted that decision. There’s not a single shade in this palette that I don’t use. Nada.

Out of all the palettes that I own, this has my favorite packaging. It feels so classy and expensive, and despite its finish, it’s not as “fingerprint-magnet” as I thought. The palette comes in a gold and purple compact with a large mirror ideal for traveling. It also snaps securely when you close it so you don’t have to worry about it creating a lot of mess in your travel kit. Apart from the palette, it also came with an instruction card, offering you two eye look inspirations using the palette.

The palette comes in 12 all-matte shades ranging from yellow toned neutrals to mauvey/cool-toned neutrals. If you notice each of these shades are arranged by rows. You can pull off three obvious looks by using them following their arrangement, or you can always use whatever shade you like. If you love neutrals, or if you’re just a beginner in makeup and you would like to invest in a good all matte, neutral eyeshadow palette, then go for this one. You will be able to use all of the colors and you can create tons of eye looks.

Each of these shades are very pigmented and they have a rich color payoff. They’re smooth and buttery to the touch. Though I noticed that the lighter ones seemed to be a bit powdery than the others but all of these shades are very easy to work with. You can either use your brush or your fingers in applying and blending these shadows. I also didn’t experience any fallouts nor were they chalky. All in all, I find that this palette is one of my most used products especially when I’m in a hurry. No muss, no fuss.

These shadows lasted on me for more than 6 hours without a primer. They never creased nor did they fade before the said time. They lasted longer with a primer of course, but I’m truly impressed by their staying power even without one. Though I always prefer to use a base or primer not only for the longevity but also to add more vibrancy to each shade. As I said earlier, each shade is very easy to work with and none of them gave me problems.

As mentioned, these shadows are infused with Amazonian clay to promote longevity, Vitamin E that acts as anti-inflammatory & as a natural preservative and mineral pigments to soothe and soften skin. Despite this, the product does not have any particular scent.

Overall, I really am in love with this eyeshadow palette and I’ve been using it ever since I got it. If you’re not in to mattes then you might not enjoy it but if you’re like me who enjoys matte shadows every once in a while then this one is definitely for you. Of course I still use satin/shimmery shades from time to time but I still use this to blend those shades. This, for me is such a versatile palette. You can get away with using it alone or you can mix and match it with any other shades.

  • Nice matte palette! I still have my Sleek Ultra Mattes palette so I am not drawn to get more. This palette leans more on the cool side too so I don’t think it will suit my warm skin tone.

    • I have that as well. Love Sleek Palette

So pretty! I’m eyeing on this palette too! Packaging is so pretty too. I like the font on the cover. That one has a huge mirror which is perfect. The colors are pigmented and really matte. I don’t have any favorite palette right now though. I keep on switching from one palette to another. Haha. This palette is now within my budget, but I’m torn between this, lorac mega, and vice. Can’t decide which one to buy first

  • Such a gorgeous palette! I’m in love

  • Mickey Angel Cortez

Hala. I was really in love with this palette just upon seeing the packaging! I’m a sucker for purple stuff so this really got me. Another thing, I never heard of Amazonian clay used for make-up yet so this is kinda bizarre. I just have a palette from Ever Bilena which is just a gift from my Tita. I rarely use them and I’m just a new learner to make-ups so I guess I’ll try more affordable palettes first before ending up with this one. BTW, Naked Palette is probably the most common palette being used for gorgeous eye looks today. Have you tried it?
