Glamourbox Special Edition Eye of Horus Box | Unboxing & First Impressions

As I was taking product shoots for this box, I realized one thing. I won’t be able to make an unboxing video. Apologies. It’s as if every time I ask for what you want, I just fail to deliver whenever I have your answer. So this is what I’m going to do in the future. I’m just not going to ask you anything so I won’t end up disappointing you guys. Who knows, I might end up surprising you?

Anyway, last January 28, 2015, Glamourbox announced that they will be tying up with Eye of Horus Philippines to launch the Special Edition Eye of Horus Glamourbox, which opened for subscription the following day. And of course, if you know me, you know I HAD to grab my own box.

I got my box last week and I was actually quite surprised because this is my first time getting their ‘new’ box. And by new, I meant compared to their huge white box, this was smaller, which made sense, since I thought I’l be receiving mostly makeup.

Anyway, here are the items that are inside my Special Edition Eye of Horus Glamourbox

Glamourbox Special Edition Eye of Horus Box | Unboxing & First Impressions
Eye of Horus Teal Malachite Goddess Pencil | Full size: 1.2 g; Php 990
Mesmerize with ancient Metallic Malachite, the teal crystal of love. Adorn and enhance your eyes with this hypnotic shimmering jewel-like formula. Glides effortlessly, waterproof, smudgeproof and long lasting. PARABEN FREE.

In one of my previous Glamourbox boxes, I got an Eye of Horus eye pencil in black and I actually liked it. It’s really creamy, long lasting though it smudges a bit on me (tbqh though, I haven’t really found an eye pencil that wont smudge on me all throughout the entire day). I’m actually looking forward to try this in the summer but I also hoped that they included a more practical shade like brown, grey or black. That way, you can use it on a daily basis and at least the Php 990 will be at least worth it for some who don’t really wear this type of shade.

Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara | Full size: 8 g; Php 990
If you’re after a perfect natural mascara that won’t run, smudge or clump, Eye of Horus goddess mascara is exactly what you are looking for. Formulated in the style of the ancient Egyptians, Eye of Horus mascara uses natural, non-irritating ingredients, making it ideal for sensitive eyes. It strengthens and lengthens for ultimate Goddess lashes.

I also got this in one of my previous Glamourbox boxes and I remembered really liking it. It’s not volumizing nor did it offer much in terms of lengthening but I really liked it because it can really separate my lashes and it is definitely black. It’s something that you would want to wear if you’re into that natural, no makeup-makeup look, or if you don’t want your lashes to look all dramatic. It’s smudgeproof and it doesn’t clump but it comes off easily with a makeup remover.

Eye of Horus Sharpener | Php 295
German made custom sharpener delicately sharpens with precision your Eye of Horus Goddess Pencils

I remembered how much of a pain it was sharpening my EoH pencil because it just had a weird shape. It fits my sharpener, but it wont sharpen properly, not without wasting too much product. That’s also one of the main reasons why I ended up using it up that fast. It’s because none of my sharpeners can really work on that g’dam pencil. Now, at least I can think about repurchasing it because I have a sharpener. But Php 295 for a sharpener? Well, I guess I’m lucky that they included it in this box.

Glamourbox Special Edition Eye of Horus Box | Unboxing & First Impressions
Eye of Horus Ankh Necklace | Php 580
The ankh symbolizes the breath of life and the key of the Nile. It often appeared in Egyptian tomb paintings and other art, and connects to strength and health. Add some sparkle to that #ootd with this Egyptian-inspired accessory!

This was one of the most unexpected item in this box. To be perfectly honest, when I ordered this box, I was expecting to get purely makeup. Or was I expecting too much? Lol. Not that I don’t like this necklace don’t get me wrong. I love accessories and my friends can attest to that but I like I said, I guess I just didn’t expect to see a non-makeup product here in this box. A Php 580 non-makeup product.

Glamourbox Special Edition Eye of Horus Box | Unboxing & First Impressions
Eye of Horus Facial Bamboo Mitt | Php 480
Scrub those dead cells away with our exclusive Facial Bamboo Mitt, guaranteed to leave skin soft and smooth after each use.

Another product I did not expect to find in this box. Although I actually see this first along with the necklace upon opening the box. Oh and this mitt is actually worth Php 460. Of course I will use it because I love facial mitts and I’m all for exfoliating my face, but I just find this expensive, lol. Not that it matters because it’s in my box, and it’s practically free, but still.

So those were all of the products that were included in Glamourbox’s Special Edition Eye of Horus Box. Let’s start with the things that I like. I like the eye pencil, though I would’ve preferred a more neutral shade but at least I got a new shade to try. Besides EoH eye pencils are known for their quality so I’m good with that. I also love that they included the mascara because I loved their mascaras and if only I don’t have tons, I might have thought of repurchasing mine when I ran out. I also liked that they included the sharpener, because it can definitely be useful. Like I mentioned, their eye pencils are a pain to sharpen. Individually, I think all of the items are good, in their own right. Like the necklace and the facial bamboo mitt, but to be included in a box that was advertised to enhance the eyes and achieve that ‘sultry eye look’? Uhm…

Glamourbox Special Edition Eye of Horus Box | Unboxing & First Impressions

Now on to the things that I’m not really a fan of. Like I said, each of the items are good in their own right. But the sharpener is already Php 295, the necklace is already Php 580 and the facial bamboo mitt is Php 480 (Php 480 for a facial bamboo mitt!). Though I can’t wait to use all of these, it’s just too expensive, and even though you already get what you paid for with these items, I just wish they replaced either two of these with a different eye makeup instead. Oh, and the eye pencil. I know that I look forward to trying a different shade this summer but I still prefer using a Php 990 eyeliner on a more practical basis.

Please don’t get me wrong. I love this box. I will continue to subscribe to Glamourbox because it’s one of my favorite subscription services and what I got for this box was actually triple of what I paid for. I paid Php 695 and I got more than Php 3,000 worth of items. But still, I just got confused with the selection of items that I got. To be quite honest, I was actually hoping to get more makeup products.

Anyway, here’s the computation…

Let’s compute..

Eye of Horus Teal Malachite Goddess Pencil
Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara
Eye of Horus Sharpener
Eye of Horus Ankh Necklace
Eye of Horus Facial Bamboo Mitt
PhP 990

PhP 3,335

All of these products are full size and I will definitely use all of them. In fairness to this box, all of them are quite useful. None of them will be put to storage or anything. If I wont be able to use one of them, I can give it someone and I know that they’ll be able to use it.

Anyway, how about you? What are your thoughts about this box? If you’re ever interested in subscribing to Glamourbox, feel free to visit their website or follow them at their Facebook page at the following links below:

Thats ok Ms.yette, surprise us nalang sa posts mo. Anyways, anything that youve post is interesting naman to read. Sayang no video unboxing
I havent tried EoH because they are so expensive. But Glamourbox are so generous to send all full size products. Plus the accesories they sent is so cute naman. Value for the money, worth it naman. But yeah mas maganda if all make up products ang laman

    • Haha. So sorry Hanna. I know you requested a video as well. Kinda busy so it’s hard to squeeze in the video. Plus the editing pa.

I’ve heard that this mascara lightly smudges to some people but it doesn’t on me. If a mascara smudges on you, you might want to try waterproof mascaras instead. This is not waterproof.

  • Thanks for doing a blogpost instead. Truly excited for this review eversince i saw your post about unboxing this on Facebook. Althought I haven’t subscribed or bought anything from them I was still very curious. To be honest I was also expecting the same thing, i thought it’s a box full of make up but to my surprise there’a necklace and sharpener but i like them anyway. If I had a budget now( Cause most of my budget were spent on my baby.) I would also love to give their products a try. I love the eye of horus facial mitt so i can exfoliate to have a smooth and glowing skin but it is a bit pricey though. Really need to save up money for that. Thanks for this awesome review Miss Yette! Saw your pictures with other beauty bloggers and I can tell that it was indeed a great bonding experience.

    • You can always buy a facial mitt at Watson’s. It’s not really that expensive. Some of them are less than 100-150 but they have the same texture. Trust me.

  • mommyR

i love their Mascara! i got the chance to try it from their November (previous) box!

    • Yeah, I like it because it just gives you that natural definition. Perfect for daily wear

  • cant wait for the review.. thats quite expensive too ah ..

Hi!..Been gone for almost a year and after a reprieve from blogging and box subscriptions, I again started the year with a blast …which means advance subscriptions…which included this one. Although I couldn’t get back to blogging yet because of my work …but I cant help but comment here. I do agree with you..what I like best was the mascara, and I was praying dearly for the eyeliner since I am almost running out and I had been wanting to have an EOH but since I got myself full last year of different makeups, I tried to hold up from the purchase since it was indeed pricey!
So when GB opened it, I grabbed the opportunity. However, I wish it was not a teal cause I can’t barely use it at work. I work as an Engineer and wearing blue does not go well with my activities and regular work clothes if you get what I mean. My makeup staples would only include a mascara, liner, brow liner, a facepowder and a balm.
But given how pricey it is, It was still a deal somehow.
As for the sharpener, I was disappointed in a way that I just bought one for 200 pesos from a different brand which has a picker for cleaning. This one doesn’t
My daughter was eyeing the necklace though…hahaha…so we know who got it. Oh was still good but not as great as the previous boxes. I like the box though even it was small. I could easily recycle it into something else

    • I totally agree. I can’t use teal except maybe when I’m experimenting with makeup but you really can’t use teal eyeliners when you go outside because it just attracts too much attention.

My mom got the box, this time. She liked it because it’s just small compared to their previous boxes. Haha

i don’t really understand why everything is so expensive, (maybe i don’t because i haven’t tried any of their products so i don’t know the effect of them and how good they are) kinda shocked about the price of the sharpener tho haha, ms yette do you have a review about the eye of horus eye pencil? would love to know more about it!

Glamourbox pala is so different from the subscription boxes medyo weird lang for me (weird in a good way) because they include accessories! which is nice and classy.

by the way what is a bamboo mitt? panghilod ba yun?haha is it like a loofah? thanks!

    • EoH is really a bit pricey since it’s a foreign brand and the quality is also good.

Unfortunately,I don’t have a review of the eye pencil, but what I can say about it is that it’s soft, creamy and it glides on easily. You can use the smudger to create that smoky eye effect but once it sets, it wont budge. Well, for some. But since I haven’t really encountered an eye pencil that doesn’t smudge or fades on my waterline, this kinda smudges on me. Just a bit though. It doesn’t make me look like a racoon a the end of the day. And it lasts for a decent amount of time.

  • abegaill villacruz

I love the EoH eyeliner as the pencil is so creamy and it doesn’t hurt my eyes. For a subscription box, I agree with you that they should have included a more neutral color instead. And they should have included more makeup too. Kahit deluxe samples lang sana. And that sharpener and mitt are both expensive. I hope they serve their purpose really well, because if not, the price is not worth it. There are lots of inexpensive mitts pa naman in the market.

  • glamourbox is still the best subscription box for me… because most often, you have the option to order the box after it has been released na and you’ve seen what’s included inside… it’s not a surprise, but you have that option to choose to get a box you’re really interested in… sometimes kasi it’s disappointing when you receive a so-so box when you get so excited to receive it… anyway, baka they included the bright eyeliner because summer is coming na… or maybe it’s a new shade release? i haven’t tried EoH yet, but maganda naman mga reviews nya… i still opted out of this box though because nothing really sparked an interest… sana next box nila maganda yung mix ng products…
