Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in ‘Ruby Moon’

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in 'Ruby Moon'

The first time I’ve heard about the Burt’s Bees brand was through their lip balms, then I found out about their skin care, body, baby products. To be quite honest, before I became a beauty blogger, I only know a few things about Burt’s Bees. And them having their own lip gloss line is one of the things I didn’t know about.

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in 'Ruby Moon'

Rich, pearlized color combines with natural oils rich in nutrients to leave your lips soft, shiny and 100% naturally beautiful.

• Delivers rich pearlized color with high impact shine

• Available in 12 gorgeous shades

Truth be told, despite my lipstick hoarding problems, lip glosses aren’t really my fave. I don’t like the feeling it gives me, I don’t like the stickiness, I don’t like how sometimes slimy they are (yes, I said it. Slimy). Like I said, lip glosses aren’t my fave. But don’t get me wrong. I don’t dismiss them either. There are still lip glosses that I really like those Nyx Butter Glosses. I guess it really depends.

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in 'Ruby Moon'

The packaging of this product is very simple and straightforward which is something that I prefer in a lip gloss. The color of the tube remains true to color. It comes with a doe-foot applicator so it’s easy to use.

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in 'Ruby Moon'

Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Glosses come in 12 shades and I believe they’re all available locally. This particular lip gloss is more of a berry-red lip color. It’s very wearable and it definitely matches the Fall and Winter season. If you’re looking for some darker glosses to top off your usual red lippies then this would be it. The lip gloss is not as pigmented when worn by itself. However it still provides your lips that pinkish “my lips but better” shade. Definitely something you can wear for your “no-makeup makeup look”.

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in 'Ruby Moon'

The formula is very moisturizing so I prefer to use this alone, especially for days when I go for minimal makeup. If you know me, I like priming my lips with a lip balm before applying ANY lip product but with this one, I totally skip doing that. It’s also a bit sticky compared to my other lip glosses. In fact, this is the most sticky lip gloss I own. BUT! BUT! BUT!!! I don’t own sticky lip glosses and if I do, I give them away. This is not overwhelmingly sticky. It’s bearable and it also helps prolong the staying power of the product itself.

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in 'Ruby Moon'

Due to it’s doe foot applicator, it’s very easy to apply and blend. You can also layer it up to your preferred intensity. Same goes when using it as a topper for your other lip products.

Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in 'Ruby Moon'

I like how this product does not emphasize the lines of my lips. Another thing that I don’t like about lip glosses is that they can really show those lines and really emphasize how dry my lips are. But with this lip gloss, instead of showing those flaws, it moisturizes my lips and it hides them. As for the longevity, because I drink a lot, this only lasted me for only an hour. Therefore, retouching is absolutely necessary. Keep in mind though that this is a lip gloss. You’re bound to encounter such issues when it comes to using a lip gloss. Longevity will always be an issue.

Burt’s Bees is known for their all-natural ingredients and this lip gloss is not an exception. As for the scent, it has a sweet subtle, honey-like scent. To be quite honest, I wasn’t a fan at first, but you’ll get used to it. It’s not overwhelming.

Despite its cons, I really do like this lipstick. It’s a great pick me up for days when you really don’t want to wear a lot of makeup but you still would like to look fresh and somehow ‘made-up’. It’s also very moisturizing and feels like a lip balm (with some stickiness on the side). I also like how easy it is to use whether you use it on its own or you use it on top of any other lippie. It’s very versatile.
Yes. If you’re into lip glosses, then go for it. It’s not every day that you find lip glosses that are 100% natural and can moisturize your lips thoroughly (not temporarily). It’s definitely something worth the moolah, if you’re to ask me.
Other shades of course. You know me. I love me some plums and nudes

Burt’s Bee!!! I’m such a big fan! Thank you for this new update. First time to read review from you Miss Yette and I love it! I’m into lip gloss than lip stick. I would love to try this! The last lip gloss that I used was from Victoria’s Secret.

    • Thank you. I’m glad you liked it.

I’m a super fan of Burt’s Bees and like you, I’ve known them first because of their lip balm. I’m a fan of any lip products and I don’t mind the sticky or slimy feeling. I got used to it. I have this one as well as the other shades. I also have the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in different shades. My favorite lip gloss is the underground lip plumper. I bought it in Lazada and it’s pretty good for me especially for an affordable price.

    • Sadly, i haven’t any tried limp plumpers yet. I’m glad you’re a fan of lip glosses. I’m sure you’re going to love this

  • I didn’t know they have other products. Haha! Kala ko lip balm lang. Hope you can also share something about the products in the others lines.

after reading your “cons” — seeing this: “not as pigmented” and “a bit sticky” i just feel a “bit” disappointed.. i love tinted balms ’cause i always have dry lips (and even my little darling) so balms and glosses were a staple product in our bag.. i really wanted to try this Burt’s Bees lip gloss but i thank you for this honest review

    • You’re welcome. But it’s not a total let down and I still enjoy using this lip gloss. Besides, it’s a lip gloss so it’s still bound to be sticky & less pigmented.

  • Carissa Posion

I’m not a big fan of lip glosses either ms. yette
I only have one, the Hard Candy Plexi Gloss which I use for shining up my matte lippie.
    It smells like vanilla

    • Yeah me either. I’m not a fan of lip glosses either. But I enjoyed using this one.

  • Fati Recede

it looks pigmented on the packaging itself but when it’s on the lips na, I think na-lessen ng konti yung color. But I love trhis color from Burt’s bees. Advisable for a top layer.

    • It is, good to see you again, Fati!

Im not fan of lipglosses too, ang heavy sa lips for me. Una kong natry na lipgloss is yung sa stila and after that, ayaw ko na talaga ng lipgloss. I find lipglosses na too shiny kapag inapply, and the coverage is not as good as lippies. Pero yung color nitong burt’s bees, maganda. Very natural looking. bagay sayo Ms. Yette. Pero medyo pricey pala siya, pero knowing na organic, keri na. Hoarder ako ng organic products talaga. Haha. Gusto ko sana itry, pero parang 50-50 ako kasi im not a big fan of lipgloss, but the color and being organic of it, captured my attention! I wanna try also the nyx, i dont know kung yun ba yung nakikita ko sa mga online shop na pag inaapply, liquid pero matte ang finish o iba yun Ms. Yette? Super dami na kasi talaga ng mga naglalabasan na make ups ngayon that’s why nakakaloka. Natetempt akong bumili ng bumili. haha.Anyways, thank you for sharing your thoughts, as always, very informative and true! Love it!

    • Thanks Aegeane! The NYX butter glosses are quite similar to this one only that’s a bit more pigmented and a bit more lightweight. They’re not as sticky as well.

I don’t like lip glosses too! But burt bee’s lip gloss is an exception! haha! Nice color but gusto ko mas neutral kesa dyan haha!

    • Yep, I like neutral lip glosses too. Mas madali bagayan. But this one is a bit sheer so it’s easy to mix & match. Besides it’s the holiday season so it’s the time of red lipsticks
