What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag
Hi everyone! So as I’ve mentioned in one of my recent blog posts, I went to the province to spend some quality time with my brother’s family and also visit the cemetery because it was also All Saint’s Day that time. Of course, if you know me, I had to bring some makeup. (even though I must admit I wasn’t able to use some if not most of them, but still) These are usually the ones I bring whenever I travel. I don’t travel a lot but whenever I go to the province or go out of town, these are my basics. And I’d love nothing more than to share them with you.
This makeup bag is from Ellana Minerals. I got this when I attended their photo shoot last June. I really love this makeup kit because it holds everything when I travel.
It even has a separate compartment for your eye brushes or eye/lip pencils. I decided to place my eye brushes in those pocket and they fit perfectly. Unfortunately I don’t have any clue as to where to get this particular bag. This is not available on their website. If I remember correctly, they used to carry makeup kits in their site, but I don’t see them anymore.
Anyway, as I’ve mentioned, this bag contains all of my makeup along with my other brushes, and other extra stuff that I bring even though I know I might not be able to use. It just has a lot of room for all my shenanigans.
Let’s start, shall we?
QuickFX No Shine Mattifier, Heroine Make Mineral BB Cream, Maybelline Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer, Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer, Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake and Essence All About Matt Fixing Loose Powder
Because I didn’t want to bring a whole tube of primer and I’ve already tried and tested QuickFX, I decided to bring this one. The packaging is very travel friendly and it’s very compact so it will definitely fit in my travel kit.
Also, because I need my base to last at least the entire day but still would like to keep everything lightweight as much as possible, I decided to bring this particular BB Cream. As I’ve mentioned in my review this BB Cream doesn’t give my face an overly dewy finish. It sorta gives my face a semi-matte finish which is something that I really love.
About the concealers, I use the Maybelline for my under eye area, t-zone and beside my nose to highlight and also cover up some minor redness. Then I use my Collection Cosmetics concealer to cover up some blemishes. I find myself lucky that time because I had no pimples so the only thing that I had to cover were some bumps over my forehead and some pimple marks that my previous blemishes left behind.
Of course, I used my Pixy Two Way Cake to set my entire base. I love the coverage of this one. Sometimes I use just this, fill in my brows then I’m good to go. The longevity is amazing too.
Then of course, when I’m done with my entire makeup, I set everything with my Essence All About Matt Translucent powder.
Look Beauty Brow Perfect Kit, Etude House Color My Brows Brow Gel (don’t know the shades they faded already -_-), Heroine Make Quick Eyebrow Pencil
If I’m not feeling lazy with my brows when I’m traveling I use my Look Beauty Brow Perfect kit then I set it with my Etude House brow gels. But when I’m in a hurry, I just use my brow pencil. In this case, I just used my brow pencil. Which reminds me, I have to limit the use of that particular pencil. I have no Heroine Make counter near me and I have no backups. I noticed that I only have a few (maybe 3-4) uses left.
Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper & Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
First with the primer, this is my current HG primer. I remember Wayne Goss gushing about this primer (back then it had a different packaging) and he was right. This primer keeps my eyeshadow intact for HOURS and HOURS it’s unbelievable. Compared to other eyeshadow primers I have used. I don’t use it that often because I still have other eyeshadow primers to rotate, but whenever necessary, this is the one that I use.
Also, as for the eyeshadow palette, it’s the most compact, and probably the most practical palette I could ever think of. It contains all of the shades that I could end up using in that particular trip. I used this palette when I went there because I always make sure to at least contour my eyes and I find that it’s best to do that with a matte shade. Perhaps when I’m going to a different outing, then I’m going to think of bring a different palette with shimmers and all, but for simple out of town trips, this will definitely do.
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, Pixy Volumizing Waterproof Mascara, Heroine Make Impact Liquid Mascara and Heroine Make Quick Eyeliner
These are my current go to mascara & eyeliners. The eyeliners don’t smudge, and if they fade they just fade (if you know what I mean.). The mascara is very volumizing, as I’m sure you already know and the eyelash curler. Well, it’s just the best.
Sleek Makeup Contour Kit in ‘Medium’, The Balm Bahama Mama & Tarte Blush in ‘Honored’
I’ve always loved that Sleek contour kit and I use that every single time I do my makeup (except when I do heavy contouring) and I swear it’s only now when finally hit pan on that product. And for some reason, I feel so proud. Lol. Anyway, the blushes are re-discoveries because I haven’t used these blushes for quite some time now. If you’ve been following my blog you’ll know that this year I’ve been experimenting with a lot of blushes, so yay me!
Milani Lip Pencil in ‘Simply Natural’, Wet N’ Wild Fergie Lipstick in ‘Fergie Daily’, MAC Lipsticks in ‘Please Me, Goddess of the Sea & Rebel’
If you know me, I don’t really bring just one lipstick. That’s pretty evident in my video collaboration with Eyahnism. (Click here to know what I’m talking about) I know I don’t get to use all of them and I know I only have one pair of lips but regardless, I still like to have options. And in this trip I used my Milani lip pencil then I topped it off with my WnW Fergie lipstick. It’s my fave combo at the moment. I also used my Mac Please me lippie. In short, I kept it all light.
L-R: Zoeva Brushes 102 (Silk Finish), 101 (Face Definer), 105 (Luxe Highlighter), 125 (Luxe Cheek Finish) and Real Techniques Contour Brush
Pretty much self explanatory. I used the 102 for the BB Cream, 101 for face & translucent powder then everything is as mentioned in their labels.
L-R: Zoeva Brushes 142 (Conealer BUffer), 224 (Luxe Defined Crease), 227 (Luxe Soft Definer), 228 (Crease), 234 (Smoky Shader) and Marionnaud No. 9 Eyes
Zoeva 142 brush for buffing my concealer, 224 for darker crease shades (it’s amazing especially if you have smaller eyelids like me), 227, great alternative to Mac 217, 228 THE BEST for overall blending, then 234 for general application. Oh and in case you’re wondering, Marrionaud No. 9 is the brow brush with a spoolie at the end.
So those are all of the makeup that I brought with me at the province. Truth be told, I only used some of them when I visited the cemetery. I was feeling kinda lazy to apply a lot of stuff and besides it wasn’t the time or place to go all out with my makeup. Which I wasn’t planning to do by the way, but still. When you have relatives that aren’t that interested in makeup, (some are but they’re not as hyper about it as I am) you tend to feel lazy and just at least make your self look presentable. Which means: apply some concealer, powder, do your brows, and apply some lipstick. (Oh and if you have extra time, curl your lashes and apply one to two coats of mascara).
Oh well. How about you? What do you usually bring with you when you travel? Let me know! Would love to hear your thoughts
