September 2014 Faves

Hi loves! I apologize for not being totally online lately. If you’ve been following me in my social media sites, you’ll know that I’ve been barely online ever since last Sunday. Blame it to Sims 4! Darn it! I was very addicted to Sims 1, 2 and 3 to the point that I had to uninstall them just so I can get some work done and now I don’t even know why I had to have one installed here in my laptop.. It’s happening all over again! Aaah! Anyway, I’m keeping my cool and I promise to give you more updates and do more reviews and whatever. I sincerely apologize for the lack of posts.

Anyway, I know that this is way late and again I’m sorry for that. Here are my faves

SKINCARE

Belo AcnePro Skincare Set

I know, I know. I mentioned in my previous Glamourbox Unboxing post that I might have no use for this but guess what?! I had tons of bumps and tiny pimples last month so I ended up trying this set for myself and I must say, even though I no longer have those tiny bumps, (which this set totally got rid of) I am still using them all. They’re not as harsh compared to those acne prone skincare products that I have tried before that ends up drying my skin after. This is actually nice even for preventive measures. I actually recommended this to one of my nieces and it got rid of her pimples too!

HAIR CARE

Dove Intense REpair Daily Hair Vitamin

I lah-ove this! Makes my hair really soft, smooth and shiny. It does not feel heavy nor does it weigh my hair down. It doesn’t feel like any of those hair oils that you apply that makes your hair feel quite icky. This is completely lightweight and it makes your hair really stand out. I love it.

MAKEUP

FACE: QuickFX No Shine Mattifier, Heroine Make BB Loose Powder, Artdeco Camouflage Cream Concealer in #8 and Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake Perfect Fit Foundation in ‘Golden Beige’

Ever since Genzel and I did the Top 5 Under 500 Makeup Products Collaboration, I finally decided to take her word and really buy one of the QuickFX No Shine Mattifier primers. And I must say, it’s really REALLY good. Even my mama who actually has an oily skin, really loves it and she can’t believe that it’s only roughly Php 90.

I love Heroine Make BB Loose Powder because I only need to use concealer underneath. It also gives great coverage and it doesn’t emphasize the dry lines of my face. It’s definitely one of the products that I use when I don’t want to put a lot of makeup on.

As for the Artdeco Camouflage Cream Concealer, I’ve been having one too many concealers that I actually forgot I had this in my stash. This has an awesome coverage but one thing that I really don’t like about this is that it’s not as creamy so it doesn’t glide on easily. You have to warm it with your fingers in order to apply it and cover up your blemishes. I wouldn’t advice you to use this for the under the eye area since it has a thicker texture. But other than that, this concealer provides a great coverage and a little definitely goes a long way.

Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake Perfect Fit Foundation in ‘Golden Beige’ has been my touch up buddy for weeks now. It has a faint makeup/foundation-y scent that I actually like for some reason and the coverage is just awesome. I don’t mind using the sponge as well. It doesn’t ruin my makeup nor does it cake up in some areas. This totally replaced my other 2-way cake/compact foundations.

CHEEKS: Catrice Defining Blush in ‘Rosewood Forest’ and Tarte Minteral Powder Bronzer in ‘Hotel Heiress’

These two products have been with me for the longest. When I want to really contour my cheeks, I use the Tarte Minteral Powder Bronzer in ‘Hotel Heiress’ to warm up my face and then use some cold/taupe-ish shades to really do some heavy contouring. I don’t really wear bronzers with shimmers on this product is barely noticeable, it just gives you a beautiful, radiant glow. I’ve also been loving my Catrice Defining Blush in ‘Rosewood Forest’ and it’s been my goto blush ever since I got it. I love using it especially for times when I have a nude or plummy lipstick. It’s pigmented and it lasts long on my cheeks.

EYES:Pixy Eyeshadow in Sorrel Brown 02′, Wet N’ WIld Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Vanity’, Heroine Make Quick Eyeliner, Jazzy Cosmetics Eyebrow Gel & Heroine Make Eyelash Curler

Pixy Eyeshadow in Sorrel Brown 02′ is awesome, but it only contains two shades so I have to incorporate either a highlighter or a transition shade and that’s why I’ve also been using my Wet N’ WIld Coloricon Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Vanity’. They’re both very pigmented and they last long on my lids. Together they’re a really great combo.

As for the Heroine Make Quick Eyeliner, I know I often include eyeliners in my faves post but this is really different, compared to my In2It which I have included before. This one doesn’t fade and it doesn’t smudge (as much). The only thing that I don’t like about this is that it’s not as creamy and it’s not as black as my previous eyeliners. But I think it’s because of its dry texture as to why it stays longer on my waterline. Still, the search continues for my perfect eyeliner. Until then, you’ll probably see me including eyeliners in my faves a few more times. Lol

The Jazzy Cosmetics Eyebrow Gel takes a bit of getting used to especially when you’re used to using pencil or powder products for your brows. A tiny bit of this product can go a long way and it can definitely give that full, definition to your brows. But if you’re like me who likes to use two-three shades of products to fully define your brows, then this might not be for you. But it’s definitely cheaper than most of the gel products that are out there in the market today.

LIPS: Pixy Silky Fit Satin Lipstick in ‘Soft Rose’, Mac Creamsheen Lipstick in ‘Goddess Of The Sea’ and Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Lip Balm

These have been my go to lip products for the past month. The Pixy Silky Fit Satin Lipstick in ‘Soft Rose’ is my fave MLBB shade. It’s very moisturizing and though it fades quite easily, it’s still very easy to apply even without a mirror, lol. I did a review about it here.

While the Mac Creamsheen Lipstick in ‘Goddess Of The Sea’ is something that I’ve been looking forward to have for quite some time now. Goddess Of The Sea has a plummy shade than can be muted down as your MLBB shade but it’s also very buildable making the shade a bit more fall-appropriate. It’s definitely darker and more intense than Mac Plumful and more blue-toned than Mac Rebel.

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Lip Balm is definitely a lot more moisturizing compared to the other lip balms from the Baby Lips line. It has a minty scent/flavor and it’s very lightweight. It works effective as a primer to some other lipsticks as well.

NAILS

September 2014 Faves
Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener, L’oreal Nail Polish in ‘Noble Mingle’ and China Glaze Nail Polish in ‘Midnight Mission’

I’ve been using the Essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener as my base coat. The main reason as to why it’s here is because so far, my nails don’t chip as much any more at least ever since I used this. I would like to think that it’s because of this. Oh, and it works great as a base coat as well. As for the L’oreal Nail Polish in ‘Noble Mingle’ and the China Glaze Nail Polish in ‘Midnight Mission’, I’ve been abusing these shades a lot lately. Noble Mingle looks so simple from the bottle but looks so classy when applied.

So those are my favorite products for the past month. As much as I would love to say, I haven’t been using much makeup, that’s just not true. Makeup is a part of who I am and it’s something that I even use just cause I’m bored and I want some pick me up. So those are the products that I often play with.

September has been an okay month for me. Not as awesome as August was but definitely not bad either. Anyway, how about you? How was your previous month? What are your favorite makeup/skincare products? Let me know.

I super love your picks especially the nail polishes (I’m a nail polish addict so yeah. :D). I’ve been loving the Belo set as well as it didn’t irritate my skin, and I use it also even when I don’t have pimples. My sister is using this as well and it really eliminated her pimples (she has more pimples than me). I love Dove hair vitamins as well. It’s super light to the hair, plus it makes my hair soft and smooth. I have tried other hair vitamins and I can say that this one is the best. I was also influenced by Ms. Genzel to try the Quick FX mattifier and I didn’t regret it. The quality of it is really superb, plus it’s super affordable. I also have the same shade of eyeshadow you have from Pixy. The colors are pigmented, and perfect for one color eyeshadow look. But I wish they’ll have quad eyeshadows or eyeshadow palettes in the future. I still haven’t hoarded the other shades as I haven’t pass by Podium or SM Aura Pixy counters. I hope they’ll distribute to more Watson’s branches soon, so I’ll get to buy them na. I’ve hoarded wet n wild palettes before and I super love them. I bring them whenever I don’t feel like my big palettes. I tried the Pixy shade you used from the time I saw the review on your blog. I told before that I’m not adventurous in lipsticks, but when I’ve tried the lipstick, oh my, I’m definitely trying MLBB shades. Thank you Ms. Yette! I now have MLBB shades from Maybelline, L’oreal and Revlon. I have a different shade naman ng baby lips, the one with the tint (I forgot the shade though). I’m using that whenever I don’t feel like wearing a lipstick. As for nails, I keep myself from repeating colors as I have a lot pa in my line up. Haha. Overall, I love your picks! As for me, I’m trying a lot lately so yeah.

Again, super habang comment dahil I missed commenting on your posts! (PS. I’m a game addict as well. Huhu. Need to eliminate it to be productive.)

    • I love your comments! Don’t ever stop! Just don’t be disappointed if I don’t reply on time. Haha

Anyway, I agree with everything you’ve said

  • I like both the QuickFX No Shine Mattifier and Heroine Make BB Loose Powder too! I’ve not worn liquid foundation for a while now, and the BB loose powder and Benefit custom powder are my go-tos.

I have been contemplating if I want to get Catrice Defining Blushes. You are enabling me! LOL! Also, why did you post about a new eyebrow product >>> Jazzy Cosmetics Eyebrow Gel. WHY!???!!! Hahaha!

My cousin is coming from the US this week, and she got my Mac Creamsheen Lipstick in ‘Goddess Of The Sea’! I bought it there. I am so excited! Also, essence nail products are pretty good! I love the gel-top coat.

    • Me too! That BB loose powder’s been my best friend ever since I got it. It’s something that I’ve gotten used to wearing when I don’t want to spend all my time doing my makeup.

      I’m a good enabler. Haha

Oh and for some reason a lot of people are raving about Essence’s top coat but I don’t seem to like it. It gives my nail polish weird rough textures. Ugh.. >.<

      • Oh sayang naman hindi nagwork sayo yung top coat! Pero, marami pa naman options. I also like the Sally Hansen top coats!

  • Dane Salazar

I’m on a “no-buy makeup” phase because I feel that I’m wasting too many products when I keep buying recently launched ones. Some great products tend to be forgotten and when I finally see them again, it’s either they will soon expire or they are already expired. Anyway, thanks for the recommendations.

I’m looking into getting Pixy’s two way foundation cake. Actually, I just use sunscreen/moisturizer, concealer, and loose powder these days. I’m not very into foundations with superhigh coverage because i don’t want to look too made up or too fake. I like it when my freckles still peek through a little. I’;m just quite blessed that I don’t break out often and that my skin is not too sensitive. However, my nose perspires a LOOOOOT.

    • Ooh! I share that trait too! We all got that from my dad. Our nose perspires A LOT!!

  • Fati Recede

I am very scared when it comes to trying NEW anti-acne products because I always thought they can contribute to more zits. Haha so I stick to the one that’s “hiyang” for me. Although sometimes, I risk! Chos. But since it’s Belo, might as well give it a try. I am using that fx no shine mattifier for 1 year. Isang taon na, di pa rin sya ubo. Yes its a realy good affordable primer. I want to try that Jazzy eyebrow gel!! Remonds me of Nyx’s Fell in love with that Pixy lippie shade. Might give their stall a visit naaaa Nice set of faves

  • OMG! OMG! WAIT! YOU HAVE THE SIMS 4 NA?!! Sorry sa feels! Haha! Grabe, adik din ako dyan ever since the first version. Is it good or better than The Sims 3? Natatakot akong mag-install baka wala nanaman akong ibang magawa e. LOL

Anyway, I love the Belo AcnePro Kit too, it’s very effective! I have yet to try those Dove hair vitamins. I just got the Quick FX mattifier too and it’s amazing! I should get that Dr. Rescue lip balm soon. And I didn’t know Essence has nail products too, I should definitely check them out.

Great products as always, Yette! I love reading all about them.

    • I like Sims 3 better, tbh. Mas marami kagad gamit ang Sims 3 e pero mas maraming customizations ang Sims 4. Oh and you can’t turn off the aging sa Sims 4. Yeah, I’m still not over playing it. Unlike Sims 3. I got over playing it in like 2 weeks (maybe because I wasn’t that active in blogging & I wasn’t working back then so tuloy2x talaga, lol).

Use the hair vitamins, promise, you’re going to love it!

  • I love that Jazzy eyebrow gel too. I got the lighter shade. And because of this post, I will try the hair vitamin from Dove na. I’ve always wanted a Tarte product lalo na yung anything na pang cheeks nila kaso medyo pricey.

  • emz bobier

i also love the quick fx mattifier and the belo acne pro kit ..

  • hanna baldomaro
