MUA Pretty Edgy Palette - Review, Photos & Swatches

I know I’ve been such a slacker for the past few days, I apologize. But here I am now and I would like to review this eyeshadow palette I’ve been eying on for a couple of months now. I got it at Make Up Hub and I’ve been testing it out ever since. It’s the MUA Luxe Pretty Edgy Palette.

Product Description/Claims According to the MUA Site
Make a statement with the MUA “Pretty Edgy” eye palette. Encased in a cool gold studded clutch, this palette features a mixture of pretty pink neutrals with dark sultry tones in velvet matte and shimmery textures.

I really do like the packaging of this one. It is indeed luxurious and edgy. The packaging is very sturdy, the studs doesn’t feel like it’s about to give out any time soon. It has a decent-sized mirror and it doesn’t open easily (I hate it when palettes open quite easily, except for those with magnetic closure, because that’s pretty understandable). It has a dual-ended sponge applicator, which I don’t really feel like using, if you know me. But aside from that, I give the packaging of this product, an A.

As you can see, the top row is filled with metallic, shimmery shades and the bottom are purely matte. At first, I thought this palette was sort of a dupe of Naked 3 but I was wrong. This palette is more on the cool tones, taupes, and lilacs. It has rosey shades, but very minimal.

All of the shades have a nice, decent pigmentation. Especially the matte ones. They’re not as richly pigmented as the Smokin’ Palette but for the prize, it’s still okay. The darker shades have better color payoff than the lighter ones and I noticed that the lighter shimmery shades are a bit sheer.

What I personally don’t like about these palettes is the lack of matte highlighting shade. If you’re not into highlighting your brow bone with a shimmery shade, then this might not be for you.

Like I said before, the lighter shimmery shades are a bit sheer, so you really need to build it up. The shimmery shades are not that powdery and they’re very easy to blend. What I noticed though is that they’re not that soft or creamy to the touch. They’re not chalky nor does it have a lot of fall outs.

The matte ones, however, have a rich pigmentation and a little of them goes a long way. They are, however quite powdery so you need to tap off the excess whenever you use them. They’re also quite creamy. I don’t encounter fallouts whenever I use these shades, and nor are these shades chalky.

I did not have any problems using this palette. As previously mentioned, I did not encounter any fall outs, they weren’t chalky and majority of the shades weren’t powdery. They’re very blendable and buildable to your preferred intensity. As for the longevity, for some reason, I think my lids are becoming oily, which is something that I realized this past month. On bare lids, this only lasted for approximately two hours. But using an eyeshadow primer, this lasted me for four.

– I did not pick up anything when I smelled it right off the pan. That’s what I like with MUA palettes. They don’t really smell anything even if you stick your nose at the pan. NADA.
– Product does contain Talc, Mica and Parabens. Heads up to those who are cautious of such ingredients.

Despite this palette’s beautiful packaging, I can’t help but compare this one to my other MUA Palette (Smokin’ Palette). I must say, I was a bit disappointed when I got this because it’s not as pigmented compared to that one. Don’t get me wrong. This is not a bad palette and if you still want to buy it I say, go for it. It’s still worth it. The shades are quite unique and having them all in a palette is something that you don’t see quite often. But some shades just don’t show up quite easily that you have to build it up in order for it to be visible on your lid. I guess the packaging is just not enough, this time.
I’d say YES
Yes because the palette is unique not because of the packaging (well, sorta) but because of the shade selections. If you’re into taupes and cool-toned shades, then this is for you. And like I said, the pigmentation is not that bad, especially the matte ones. The matte shades are richly pigmented though you just have to tap off the excess but other than that, you wont have a problem with the matte shades.
Perhaps a different palette from MUA but I don’t see that happening anytime soon either.

  • The P650 price tag makes it L’oreal level in terms of cost, would you say it’s better than L’oreal eyeshadows? Thanks.

    • I’m not exactly sure to be honest. I haven’t tried an eyeshadow quad/palette from L’oreal for quite a long time. Sorry.

But if I’m comparing this to other drugstore palettes, I think that this is still better because of the matte shades. Not all drugstore palettes have really pigmented matte shades.

The packaging is so cute and the shades are very pretty. They look similar in the Naked 3. hehe. This palette is so versatile in my own opinion. The color choice is unique and probably has all the basic colors which you would need to create any kind of look – in that being a neutral one or smokey look, day time or night time look, in just using the same palette. I love this! I wanted to buy some! hehe. Lots of pinks and purples, mauves and grays. Its perfect and so chiccy to wear have you tried the nyx nude in nude? I think they have 20 range of eyeshadow colors and bonus lip colors. Its below 1k lang din ata. Parang UD ang colors. Thanks for the review!

    • Nope I haven’t tried that palette yet, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it too.

  • OMG I like this shades! Though not into shimmery but i’m into naked/neutral hues!

    • You’re going to love this if you’re into taupes & cool-toned shades

  • abegaill villacruz

I like the shades because it is so neutral, perfect for everyday use. But same as you, I like the smokin palette better. I also like MUA 12 shade starry night palette, and the 12 shade palette poptastic. Those are so colorful and pigmented.

    • Ooh, I’m looking forward to own that Poptastic palette.

  • RebelSweetHrt

The quirky packaging definitely caught my attention. I love that MUA palettes are relatively affordable, and do not fall short in terms of quality.

  • The packaging may be prettier than the other MUA palettes but its quite a shame that it isn’t as pigmented to their original palettes. Maybe i’ll stick with my MUA heaven and earth palette

    • True. I agree with that. I like the Heaven & Earth palette too. But I don’t use it often because it’s too shimmery but I prefer the pigmentation of that one more.

  • Fati Recede

Lovely colors! I always wanted to have a palette from their brand. What I love about the palette is that it has the color that are perfect for everyday use and colors you can use to make smokey eyes. Perfect for parties, etc.:)

    • You can try their Undressed palettes. They’re known as the Naked dupes.

  • nicole Paler

If only this palette had more mattes than shimmery ones … then I guess I’d also get this..

  • Great finds! Love the colors, it can use everyday. How i wish im good on putting make up like you.

    • Not good in putting makeup yet. Hun. I just love to pretend. Haha

  • I like the shades, they suite our weather. I can see that the shimmery shades will be easy to use as a top shadow to the matte ones. They will surely compliment those shades.

    • Yup, love the shades too!

  • price is not that bad, considering the packaging (which was so good by the way, so classy), and the colors, cause’ it has both glittery (super love the colors!) and matte but Im a bit disappointed that it’s so sheer and longevity is just about two hours/4 hours, it can’t even last half a day, ain’t nobody got time retouching My lids are so oily too and so far mineral eye shadows are just the ones working for me like it can last up to 8 hours without primer.

    • Me too, I love the packaging and the shades too. I don’t know if it’s just because my eyelids are becoming really oily these days but usually even drugstore eyeshadows last really long on me even without a primer. Sigh

  • sayang naman it only lasted for 2 hours with out a primer i was under the impression that all MUA eyeshadow palettes (or at least most of them) are excellent in quality, thanks for your honest review on this yette!

    • Yeah. I was under that impression too since my MUA Smokin’ Palette really performed well. Thanks, Shayne!

  • Marseille Frances Bañas Talaca

I think the Undress Me Palette is more worth buying than this one plus it much cheaper and it’s perfect for everyday use because it’s all neutral-brown shades. I’ve been eyeing to get that for months now but it’s always out of stock at Makeuphub

    • Yeah, I’ve been hearing a ton about that Undress me palette.

  • Kleah

I love the fact that the the top row is filled with metallic, shimmery shades and the bottom are purely matte. however upon reading the pro’s and con’s i agree that shimmery shades can be a bit sheek. I like the packaging as well and the outcome of your make up application. i really like your skin, I envy your fair and glowy skin hihi.
