Ellana Minerals Lip & Cheek Cream Color in ‘Icon’ – Review, Photos & Swatches
What It is:
Mini-pots of a sheer wash of long-lasting luminous color, creamy & easily blendable. To use as blush, dot on the apples of your cheeks and blend. To use as lip color, dot on the middle of the lips and blend towards the edges. Highly pigmented, a little goes a long way.
The packaging of this one is very similar to their Ellana Minerals Pressed Mineral Powder Foundation in ‘Chai Tea Latte’ only smaller. The product is housed in a small carton packaging very similar to those from The Balm‘s but I like this way more due to the illustrations. It’s a lot more feminine and classier. It represents not only the brand but the people using it (Click here to learn more about Ellana’s new packaging). It has a magnetized closure and a small mirror, just enough to see one cheek at a time.
True to its name, ‘Icon’ is indeed a ‘Strawberry Red’ color. But don’t be alarmed. It doesn’t look as intimidating as it looks like in the pan especially when blended out. It just gives you this beautiful flush that you get when you’re blushing or when you’re out in the sun for a good amount of time. Also, right from the pan, it looks quite matte, but it has a beautiful matte finish with a bit of a sheen. I never noticed it before but right before I made this review, I noticed when I was swatching it repeatedly, there are tiny TEENY specs of silver glitter in it. Like I said, you won’t notice them until you play with it, and maybe look for them. But they’re there and I think it’s what make these lip and cheek cream colors really pretty. I usually apply it with the use of my ELF Studio Small Stippling Brush and it just gives me that beautiful airbrushed-effect glow that looks really natural. It’s just so beautiful!
I don’t have a lot of cream blushes (apart from my ELF HD Blushes & cheek tints) but compared to all the ones that I have encountered, the consistency of this one is pretty unique. It is really creamy, but it is not sticky. It has a rich color payoff and it’s ridiculously pigmented but it’s a bit drier in texture (considering that it’s a cream product). I hope I am making sense. It has a cream to powder finish and it glides on so smoothly onto the skin and it’s very easy to blend. It can also be buildable to your preferred intensity but due to it’s shade I’m good with just one to two layers.
On my lips – when applied it looks like a matte lippie but it’s not as creamy, and you won’t get much coverage when you use your fingers. I suggest you use a lip brush if you want the full color to show up. It doesn’t feel heavy, it’s just like your natural lips. It does settle on my lip lines though, so I suggest you exfoliate first if you intend to use it on your lips because it can emphasize those lines and highlight those imperfections. Other than that, this a really good multi-functioning product.
Using it as a blush – ‘Icon’ lasted on my cheeks for approximately four hours. Do take note though that I was staying in an air-conditioned room (but even then, it was still every hot). Regardless, the product didn’t start fading after the fourth hour. I used a good foundation so I can check it’s longevity more accurately.
Using it as a lip product – This didn’t last as long as I expected on my lips. It only lasted for an hour or so. Maybe because I only applied a thin layer, but you don’t need a ton in order for it to show up, you just need a lip brush.
This lip and cheek cream color doesn’t smell anything. The packaging doesn’t smell, the product itself doesn’t smell, it doesn’t smell anything. It doesn’t have a particular scent. Nada.

|Doesn’t last as long on my lips|
I really like this lip and cheek cream. It’s a really good multi-tasking product and it’s really affordable too. It’s different compared to all of the cream products that I have encountered and that’s what sets it apart. It’s unique and until you own one, or have at least felt/swatched it, you wont get what I mean. But then again, like I said, I don’t own a lot of cream products. Never the less, this has been one of my go to products last month. When I want to put something in my cheeks but I don’t want to look like I just did my makeup. It looks so natural on me. I love it!
It is definitely worth the money and I will definitely buy more! Well, different shades of course, but you get what I’m sayin!
