Maybelline Color Whisper in Cherry On Top – Review, Photos & Swatches
Anyway, let’s resume our review. What I have here, is like I said, a drugstore favorite and it’s the Maybelline Color Whisper in ‘Cherry On Top’.
Product Description/Claims According to the Website:
Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel.
No heavy waxes or oils.
Soft, sexy gel-color.
PACKAGING – Compared to the lip colors from the Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks, the Color Whispers are actually a lot slimmer from the tube itself and even up to the cover (Click here for comparison). The color of their cover also varies depending on their shade, which I think is handy and cute at the same time. Other than that, their packaging is quite similar and somehow derived from the Color Sensational line. They seem sturdy and really cute for a drugstore product.
SHADE – This lip color has more of a hot pink tone into it. It has a great color pay off and it is very buildable as well. Further, just like most of the lip colors, I have reviewed in the past, what you see from the tube is what you get in this lip color. It may come of sheer when applied initially, but it can coat your lips evenly and like I said, it is very buildable. I love this shade and I’ve been wearing this all summer long, and right now, it’s still my go to lip product.
FORMULATION/CONSISTENCY – This lip product is very creamy, weightless, and has more of a gel-like finish. I like how it makes my lips look like. It makes my lips look supple, kinda like an MLBB look only WAYY better since it’s very tinted and really moisturized. Also, despite the fact that it’s creamy, it still didn’t highlight all the fine lines of my lips. It is quite similar to Revlon lip butters, in terms of how it moisturized my lips, but still different since the Revlon Lip Butters can be a little sheer at times. Also, there are some shades from the Revlon lip butters that can go underneath the crevices of my lips, which kinda turns me off. But then again, I only have one shade from the Maybelline Color Whispers, so I cannot speak for the rest of the entire bunch.
APPLICATION – Similar to the Revlon lip butters, applying this lip product was such a breeze. It went on smoothly, you can pretty much apply this with or without a mirror. You don’t need a lip balm or anything to put prior to this one since like I mentioned it wont emphasize any of your lip’s imperfections. Although, if you really have dry lips, then feel free to prep your lips with a lip balm since at the end of the day, you will still feel some dryness.

PERFORMANCE – Sadly, I had some transferring issues with this one but it’s nothing that a little blotting wont solve. Besides, after the first 30-45 minutes that went away. Of course, like I said if you would like to avoid that, then blot. I did not experience any bleeding, feathering nor did I find it drying either. In fact, if it was anything, I find it quite moisturizing. This also lasted me for three to four hours without retouching. It did stain my lips and it faded out gradually.
SCENT – As with regards to the scent, I did encounter the ‘ol candy like scent that Maybelline used to have with their lipsticks. It’s not overpowering but it’s definitely something if you’re not into scented lippies.

Overall, I REALLY love this lip product. I wish I could get more soon because I just LOVE it. It’s very moisturizing and very comparable to Revlon lip butters. I am in love with it. Need I say more?
I love how it offers a variety of shades to choose from. From loud to subtle shades, you can practically choose anything you want that can go with your day/night look. It’s very moisturizing as well!
So those are my thoughts regarding the said lip product. I hope you find it helpful if in case you’re in the search for a new lipstick. How about you? What’s your NEW fave lip stick? What’s something that you use in order to moisturize but can still give your lips a hint of color? Let me know!
