Clio Professional Waterproof Brush Liner Kill Black – Photos, Swatches & Review

I’ve always been fascinated with eyeliners. May it be pencil, cream, gel or liquid, I just love how they can change your entire look. Your eyes can make a statement just by using the right eyeliner. Me? I’ve always liked liquid eyeliners. Of course I like pencil and cream/gel liners, but there’s always something, I don’t know if it’s precision, clarity or whatever that I’ve always favored towards liquid eyeliners. Specifically those with calligraphy brushes such as KPalette & this one, Clio.

Clio Professional Waterproof Brush Liner in Kill Black

I feel that I was about to run out of my favorite liquid eyeliner so I decided to buy a backup. But I saw a Clio counter at SM MOA so I decided to go with this one instead. Besides, I am reading/hearing a lot of mixed reviews about this eyeliner and I really would like to try it for myself. So here are my thoughts regarding the said eyeliner.

Clio Professional Waterproof Brush Liner Kill Black

PACKAGING Nothing really special about the pen eyeliner itself. The box, however, is a combination of the colors black and yellow with the face of the Korean Singer Lee Hyori. According to some articles I’ve read, this was dubbed as the ‘Lee Hyori Eyeliner’ because these babies were sold out in just two weeks time after launching. (Check out this advertisement to see what the hype is all about). Inside the box was this eyeliner and a deluxe size of the O’Tank mascara. Nothig much to review about that mascara, except that it’s definitely BLACK. It was neither volumizing nor lengthening. But I can do a review of it if you want.

THE BRUSH This eyeliner has a fine, brush tip applicator, similar to the ones from KPalette and Lioele’s. The fine tip makes it a lot easier to create the sharpest of lines. It’s flexible but it’s not too flimsy either. Therefore, if you’re fond of the cat’s eye look, then this eyeliner will be your best bud.

APPLICATION/USAGE This eyeliner glides on smoothly on top of my lids, I had no problems applying it. I didn’t suffer any irritations or anything at all. Though this is pretty much like my KPalette, for some reason, (I’m not sure if you can see it in the picture) I find that my KPalette is a lot ‘blacker’ than this one. Also, I find that the tip is maybe a tad smaller? Or maybe it’s just me.

Since I’ve been using my Clio eyeliner for over a week now, I feel that the brush is getting dryer through time despite constant shaking and also, the formula is not as ‘wet’ as it was before.

PERFORMANCE At first I tried to use this liquid eyeliner on its own. Take note that I don’t have oily lids, but it lasted on me for nearly four hours. The fading was gradual from the outer corners of my eye, towards the middle. But when used with an eye primer (I used Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base) it lasted on me for approximately six hours. Faded gradually as well in the same manner, starting from the corners of my eyes towards the center.

I have a few concerns regarding this eyeliner though. It takes a couple of minutes in order for this eyeliner to completely set/dry. If I’m in a rush, I had to set it with a matte black eyeshadow just to set it but sometimes it’s not even enough. I did experience some smudging and flaking towards the end of the day but that usually happens to me even if I’m wearing KPalette.

REMOVAL This product can be removed with merely soap and water.

Overall, I still love this eyeliner. It’s definitely a good alternate to my all-time-fave KPalette. It’s really black (as well) and it creates the sharpest lines. I’ve always been in love with fine, brush tip applicators and therefore, I am in love with this one as well since this one stayed on my lids for more than six hours.

  • I dont have steady hands too. I learned applying liquid eyeliner through fine brush tip applicators (Kpalette). Thanks, Mich!

    • I can apply neat liners with very fine tip applicators. Kpalette is a bit expensive for me pero promising talaga halos lahat ng products nila based on the reviews I have read. Sana available din dito sa SM near my place itong Clio. Thanks again, Yette.

      • Yup me too. If I use a different liner, mali na.. You’re welcome

  • wow.. eto na yung review =) thanks for doing so =)

i love eyeliners! pero yung pencil type/crayon type lang im not good in applying eyeliners din kasi kaya i prefer pencil/crayon =) medyo shaky na din sa kamay =( i love those in crayon form =) makapal kagad ang unang application =) saka sa katulad ko na nakasalamin (poor-eyesight) di naman masyadong halata na kung meron pang eyeliner o wala =)

Seems like an interesting product. I find liquid eyeliners tricky to use, but I’m getting better at it. great review!

My black one is in felt tip form which I also did a review on

  • This is very similar to Love Liner pen I got last last month, given by a friend. It comes with a mascara too. I’ve been using it since that month and it runs out already. I thought I found the perfect eye liner with that one but since it was purchased abroad, I am now looking for the best alternative. Kaso po this one’s a bit pricey

I so hope to see a rub test or water test of this liner, or is it too late for the request? hihi. Anyhow, great review Ms. Yette
