L’oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara in Black – Photos & Review

Hey everyone! How was your weekend? Yeah I know it’s Monday again, time to go back to work, and everything else. As you may all know, the product that I’m about to review has been all over the internet lately. A lot of YT gurus have been raving about this stuff. Too bad we don’t have it here. That’s why when I spotted one at Bon Marche, I didn’t think twice about buying it, being a mascara junkie that I am (lol). Anyway, let me share you my thoughts about L’oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara in Black.

L'oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara in Black Noir

Product Claims / Description according to the L’oreal Paris website:

L’Oreal introduces liquid extensions in a bottle, with new Telescopic™ Shocking Extensions™ mascara, a new generation of lash length. In one motion lashes are separated, intensified, and look shockingly lengthened for an intense make-up result.
     Clump-free, flake-free, smudge-free
     Ophthalmologist and allergy tested.
Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

L'oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara in Black Noir - Packaging

As always, let’s start with the product’s PACKAGING This one is very identical to the famous L’oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara, which is actually the original one. I didn’t get the chance to try that one, but as you can see, both of their packaging is shaped like a spyglass. Only this one (Shocking Extensions) has a metallic finish and with a gunmetal-like color. I really like the packaging because unlike most mascaras, it’s very unique and practically describes what the product claims to do for your lashes. Also, I like it because it makes the product sophisticated, elegant and quite ‘mid-range to high-end’ looking.

L'oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara in Black Noir - The Wand

WAND This mascara is known to have, what they refer to as the ‘Lash Hugging Brush’ (say that 10 times) that contains 200 bristles which can capture and define each and every one of your lashes. That of course, is according to the product’s packaging. For me, when I look at it, it reminds me of mascaras that offer more length rather than volume such as the Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara, Fanny Seranno Lash Extravagance and Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour On (to name a few). The wand is basically a long, thin, bendable plastic brush which is tapered at the middle with tiny bristles that grabs the right amount of product without the extra goopiness. The wand’s design, I believe is the key to achieve that ‘falsies’ look because the curved/tapered part envelops your eyelid and distributes the product even to your baby lashes.

The formula of this mascara is very lightweight, you can barely feel it while applying. Kinda reminds me of the Prestige My Biggest Lashes Big Lash Effect Mascara. However, the results of this one is really visible even with just a single layer. With two layers, the lengthening effect of this mascara is indeed very impressive. And for the final application, the results are just amazing.

I would like to emphasize something though. As you can see from the fourth photo, (third coat) my lashes looked a bit clumpy or spidery. I think it’s because it took me quite some time before each and every coat/application (taking multiple shots before layering each coat) and this mascara dries up rather quickly unlike most mascaras. When applied normally, it will produce amazing results, giving you really long ‘falsies’ like lashes. As mentioned and as you can see, it doesn’t really deliver any/much volume at all. Therefore, if you’re looking for a volumizing mascara, then this mascara is not for you.

I also love that even though I’ve applied more than three coats of this mascara onto my lashes, my lashes were still curled at the end of the day. It didn’t weigh down my lashes. I also did not experience any smudging or flaking at all. My mascara stayed in tact for approximately eight hours and since it’s waterproof, it was able to withstand the hot weather here as well as my (sometimes) teary eyes.

Although it says at the packaging that you will only need soap and water in order to remove the mascara off your lashes, the product is actually a pain to remove. It doesn’t come off easily even if you use Pond’s cold cream. I suggest using an eye makeup remover and follow it up with water and soap afterwards in order to completely get rid of the residue.

Elegant & Unique packaging

All in all, I am very impressed with this mascara. It gave me really va-va-voom lashes an I’m really happy with it. Of course there’s something missing, which is the volumizing factor, but you can always put layer a volumizing mascara after or before this one.

authentic! nanalo ako sa kanila dati ng 1k worth ng cosmetics. ung mga pinadala nila ung iba dun may price tag pa in dollars!

  • dear, what do you use in removing stubborn mascara?

    • Either Human Nature 100% Natural Cleansing Oil or Celeteque Anti Wrinkle Ultra Hydrating Cleansing Oil

      • meron ba dear na hindi oil-based?

        • Hmm.. you can also use Pond’s Cold cream. I only use the cleansing oils to remove the residue. Or an eye makeup remover (which is also oil-based, lol). Try Bifesta. Matagal nga lang & there’s that rubbing involved (wag nga lang madiin).

          • i heard a lot from bifesta =) hmmm.. kasi ako gamit ko wipes =) weird no? bago ako maghilamos hehe.. mostly kasi nakakasting sa mata..

          • Bifesta wont sting your eyes. It’s like a toner only it’s more of a makeup remover. Try Tony Moly’s water-based makeup remover

          • parang may nakita nga akong review kay ms janet ng Tony Moly makeup remover, where did you get your bifesta?

          • At any Watson’s/Dept stores

This is my current mascara… but what I got is Telescopic Carbon Black with the gold label… I agree with you sweetie, it creates a va-va-voom lashes! I can also use it on lashes below my eyes because of its super thin and flexi brush It is a must have mascara for me
