FairyDrops Candy Bar BB Cream in Light Ochre – Photos, Swatches & Review

Hey everyone! I have a new review to share with you guys and it’s all about the FairyDrops Candy Bar BB Cream (in Light Ochre). Yeah, I know, you must’ve read a lot of reviews, raving about how good this product is. Trust me, I was one of you. I’ve gone back and forth to a lot of Beauty Bar branches, always second guessing myself on whether or not to buy it. Thinking if it’s really worth it. Why? It’s PhP 1.550! It’ll be the most expensive liquid makeup I’ve ever purchased. I’m usually an eyeshadow/lipstick junkie, I don’t splurge on fondies or BB Creams, and for me, the reviews didn’t really push me hard enough to buy it. That was until Liz of Project Vanity used it in her model during her demo at the Project Vanity Event. It was that time when I finally decided that I really wanted that BB cream. Now, was it worth the PhP 1,550? Let’s see..

Product Description/Claims according to the Pretty And Cute Website

Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream was produced by Mayumi Yasutomo, a newscaster, who desired to have a product that made her skin look flawless while on camera. This shine-free, oil-free and waterproof product was the perfect solution. The product itself is a lightweight formula allowing you to apply the amount of layer you would like without feeling like your skin is being weighed down. Micro- gold pearl hides scars and freckles. Soft focus powder uses light diffusion not to show wrinkles and makes skin smooth. Cover with thin film, and protect from dry and rough skin.

First let’s start with the product’s packaging. This BB cream comes in a white easy-squeeze tube with a white rubbery-matte finish that attracts all kinds of dust, makeup particles, etc. The packaging also offers you two ways of using the BB cream itself. One is through the sponge which cam be revealed once you pull the cap, and the second one is through the tiny nozzle, which can also be revealed when you twist open the entire cap including the plastic rim that holds the sponge. The sponge may pose as a potential hygiene issue but it can be detached from the rim, should you wish to clean it.

FairyDrops Candy Bar BB Cream in Light Ochre - Info

Application – As mentioned, you can use either the sponge in terms of distributing the product all over your face, or you can control the BB cream through the tiny nozzle. For me, I prefer the latter. With the sponge, I feel that I get a heavier texture, and since it’s pretty hard to control how much product you get when you squeeze the tube, you get to have a lot of product accumulated at the sponge itself, which for me, I think, is quite wasteful. With just using the nozzle however, I get to just dot some parts of my face and use a flat top kabuki brush and blend the BB cream all over my face.

Consistency/Formula – Aside from the BB Cream having NO SPF, (therefore no scary white cast on photos! Yay!) the BB cream also has a very lightweight consistency. It almost feels like you have nothing on, (similar to L’oreal Lucent Magique Skin Illuminating BB Cream) only it has that tacky feeling while you’re still blending it, but it sets beautifully on to your skin.

FairyDrops Candy Bar BB Cream in Light Ochre - Swatch
A little of this product goes a long way.
I happen to squeeze a lot of product in this particular swatch it covered practically the entire half of my arm.

Shade – The FairyDrops Candy Bar BB Cream is only offered in two shades different shades: Light Ochre and Ochre. Honestly, I don’t see much of a difference between Light Ochre & Ochre, since both of these shades are very light, only Ochre, I believe is a tad bit darker & has more yellow undertones. I opted for Light Ochre because it matches my face really well.

Coverage – In terms of coverage, this product can even out your skin tone, so if you have any discolorations/redness, a layer of this product will solve that for you. A single layer of this BB cream can also cover minor blemishes, and minor post acne marks. This BB cream has a light to medium coverage and is very buildable, but for me, a single layer is enough. I just cover up some spots that are still peeking through using my trusty Artdeco Camouflage Concealer.

Finish – The BB cream sets in a semi matte finish which for me is kinda new since most Asian BB creams gives you an overwhelmingly dewy look. This finish kinda scared me at first, because since I have a dry skin, I worried that it might cling to or emphasize the driest part/s of my face. Fortunately, this did not. It gave me such a flawless finish, which I’m currently obsessing with. However, since I’m not really satisfied without setting my BB cream/foundation with a loose powder, I used my Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder to set it, and it gave me a really REALLY flawless look. I am totally loving the combination of these two!

Longevity – Also, one of the things that I am loving about this BB cream is the staying powder. This BB cream lasted on my face for more than eight hours give or take, without fading. I’m very impressed with this product, seriously.

As you can see, nothing really changed in those photos, except maybe my lipstick. (I was playing with my stash. Bored!) But other than that, the finish, the coverage, everything is still there. You see, I do have a dry skin, but during this weather, my T-zone tends to get a bit oily and that’s where my foundation/bb cream starts to fade most of the time. But see those pictures?! Also, since I’ve read a lot of reviews about this product, most of the bloggers that reviewed this have oily skin, and according to them, this product did well in terms of oil control. Oh, and according to the Pretty And Cute website, this product is waterproof, which, I’m afraid, I haven’t really tested yet. Sorry

I really can’t say anything bad about this product except maybe the price and the packaging. Overall, I am totally in love with the product. I like how it gave me such flawless, semi-matte finish, and it even lasted for more than eight hours. This product is AH-MAH-ZING! And it’ll be more amazing if you set with the Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder.

W O R T H B U Y I N G / R E P U R C H A S E ?

YES! It’s worth the PhP 1,550 – though it’s still expensive if you ask me. Lol.
And yes, I’ll definitely repurchase it.

I love the packaging of this item ang ganda lalo na yung sponge, very easy to use yun nga lang, pricey talaga.

  • Why do products as good as this have to be expensive? Almost everything that I would want in a BB cream is in this product. Now I know why it’s in your July favorites.
