Monthly Faves: January 2013

OMG, it’s February! Chinese New Year is just around the corner and Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. Honestly though, I feel like it was just yesterday (or maybe a couple of weeks ago) when we lit our fireworks and welcomed 2013. And whadayyanow, just a few more naps and we’re on our way to the beach! Ugh.. -__-;

Anyway, since January’s over, I’m here again to do my usual Monthly Favorites. I did not do my December Faves last year because I did a 2012 Hits List and I kinda included some of the products that I’m loving during that month in that list. I will really REALLY try to keep this short yet informative, because I realized that most of my Monthly Faves are uber long, and I really don’t wanna bore you to pieces.

Anyway, here are the products that I’ve been loving/using last month.

I. Skin Care Products

Monthly Faves - January 2013 Skin Care Faves!
L-R: Skin Food Golden Caviar Toner & Emulsion (Sample Sizes); Snoe Skin SPF 30 Stem Cell Sunblock Cream;
Celeteque Brightening Eye Tuck Plus Dark Circles Lightener

Skin Food Golden Caviar Toner & Emulsion (Sample Sizes) – These are the deluxe samples that I got from my December Glamourbox and I decided to give them a try. So far, they did not disappoint me. I loved them. The Gold Caviar Emulsion kept my skin moisturized throughout the entire day, and the toner is mild enough to not cause me any breakouts at all.

Snoe Skin SPF 30 Stem Cell Sunblock Cream – First of – my mama loves this. I can see the huge improvement in her skin. She’s 50+ years old and her fine lines & wrinkles were gradually decreasing over time. I’m totally amazed by this product. As for me, I love using this as a primer as well as a sunblock whenever I go out. My mama uses this as a stand alone sunblock cream and she’s wondering if this has a counterpart night cream. Do you guys know if Snoe has a night cream similar to this one? Let me know!

Celeteque Brightening Eye Tuck Plus Dark Circles Lightener – I love this eye cream. I can totally feel the tightening effects this cream does for my eyes.

II. Face Makeup

Monthly Faves - January 2013 Face Makeup!
L-R: Benefit Porefessional, L’oreal Lucent Magique BB Cream, Revlon Photoready Stick Concealer in Light Medium, Revlon Whipped Cream Makeup in Medium Beige, Snoe Cosmetics Poudre Extraordinaire in Perfect Beige Medium

What I love about the Benefit Porefessional is that it prolongs the staying power of whatever foundation that I’m about to use. I also love the L’oreal Lucent Magique BB Cream because it evens out my skin tone, and hides my imperfections despite the fact that it doesn’t provide that much coverage. (Check out my review about the said product here) The ‘Revlon Photoready Stick Concealer’ is actually very creamy, but not to the point that it settles in your fine lines. It has a cream to powder texture/finish ideal to cover blemishes as well as dark undereye circles. Revlon Whipped Cream Makeup in Medium Beige is my ‘go-to’ foundation these days, and I noticed that I get a lot of compliments whenever I have it on. I love the coverage that it gives and I am impressed with its staying power in spite of me not using the Porefessional. I also dig the souffle-whipped cream like texture. The ‘Snoe Cosmetics Poudre Extraordinaire in Perfect Beige Medium’ definitely took me by surprise. I didn’t think that I’ll be liking much less loving this product. I’ll be doing a review about this one soon, so stay tuned!

III. Cheek Products

Monthly Faves - January 2013 Cheek Product!
L-R: Sleek Makeup Contour Kit in ‘Medium’, NYX Blush in ‘Pinched’ & IN2IT Facial Highlighters in ‘Warm Glow’

Sleek Makeup Contour Kit in ‘Medium’ – I’ve been buying bronzers here and there just to be able to find a really good contouring powder without me looking like an oompa loompa (and breaking my piggy bank). I thought that I’ll have no choice but to buy ‘Hoola’ but when I went to the Superb Bazaar (Click here to checkout my Superb Bazaar Haul) I took a risk and bought me one of these. I loved it! It’s very matte, pigmented and I don’t look like an oompa loompa/orangey.

NYX Blush in ‘Pinched’ – This is also something that I bought from the said bazaar. It’s a pinky-coral-shaded blushes with gold shimmers in it, and I’m so into coral-toned blushes even before when I was in college.

IN2IT Facial Highlighters in ‘Warm Glow’ – I love this one, it’s very pigmented and it really gives my face a ‘warm glow’ so long as I apply it with a small stippling brush. If heavily applied, I will look like a shiny disco ball. (Click here for a detailed review about this product).

IV. Eye Makeup

Monthly Faves - January 2013 Eye Makeup! Monthly Faves - January 2013 Eye Makeup!

TOP: Lorac Pro Palette
L-R: Pinkie’s Collection Eyebrow Cake in ’03’, Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick ‘Torch’, Covergirl Perfect Blend Pencil Crayon in ‘Black Brown’ and Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara

Ever since I bought my ‘Lorac PRO palette’, I’ve been using it ever since. I thought I’d give my Naked Palette a rest, lol. I especially love this palette because of the matte shades (Of course!) but other than that that, I love how buttery-smooth they are. (Click here to read my review about the said palette). As for my eyebrows, I’ve been using my Pinkie’s Collection Eyebrow Cake in 003 to fill in my brows. It reminds me of my WNW Ultimate Brow kit because it’s very pigmented. When I’m in a hurry and I just need a simple eye makeup look, I just grab my ‘Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick ‘Torch’. I love it because it’s very creamy and easy to blend. It doesn’t crease and it lasts long. When I’m up for just a simple makeup, I often gravitate towards brown eyeliners. Covergirl Perfect Blend Pencil Crayon in ‘Black Brown’ is creamy and very easy to apply. It doesn’t smudge and it doesn’t wear of easily. Last January, I found a new mascara-love and it’s the ‘Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara’. I love it because it’s really great in volumizing and lengthening. Aside from that, it’s a local brand, hence it’s very affordable. (Check out my review of this fab mascara here).

V. Lip Products

Monthly Faves - January 2013 Lip Products! Monthly Faves - January 2013 Lip Products!

L-R: MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in ‘Show Orchid’, Etude House Etoinette Crysal Shine Lips in ‘PPK003′, VMV Hypoallergenics in ‘Girl Next Door’ & KJI & CO Lip Staysss Semi-Permanent Lip Butter Essence in ‘Seductress’
BOTTOM ROW – (Top) L.A. Colors Auto Lipliner in ’565 Pinky’
(Bottom) L.A. Colors Auto Lipliner in ’563 Mauve’

These are my go-to lip products. I’m not much of a lip-liner person but because the ‘Etude House Etoinette Crysal Shine Lips in ‘PPK003′ and the ‘VMV Hypoallergenics in ‘Girl Next Door’ don’t show up on my lips (because my iips are highly pigmented, I tend to apply these lip liners first prior to applying the two lippies mentioned. I also love the MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in ‘Show Orchid’ because it’s just the kind of pink colored lipstick I would normally use. The KJI & CO Lip Staysss Semi-Permanent Lip Butter Essence in ‘Seductress’ is ah-mah-zing! I never thought I’d like that, but I’m just fascinated with that lip butter. I’ll let you know more about it in an upcoming review.

VI. Makeup Tools

Monthly Faves - January 2013 Makeup Tools!
ELF Studio Line Small Stippling Brush & Small Tapered Blending Brush

I love these brushes. Wasn’t supposed to include a makeup tool, but these two babies have been my ‘holy grail’ brush (if that makes any sense, lol) during the month of January. The small stippling brush is perfect for cream blushes & highlighters (if you want a subtle shine) and the tapered blending brush is perfect for contouring.

Monthly Faves - January 2013 Nail Care/Polishes!
L-R: Sally Hansen Continuous Treatment in ‘Hardening’, Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in ‘Fall Mood’, Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in ‘Spanish Moss’, Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel in ‘Mischievous’ & China Glaze Nail Polish in ‘Side Saddle’

I’ve been wanting to grow my nails for the longest time. I take care of them like crazy, I do my own mani-pedi but still my nails are even weaker than anything I have ever imagined. Then I bought the Sally Hansen Continuous Treatment in ‘Hardening’. The only downside is that you need to reapply it every 2 days. But since I change my nail polish almost three times a week, it wasn’t really an issue. So far, I like the effect, even excessive typing doesn’t chip my nails anymore (you wont believe how brittle my nails used to be). As for the nail polish shades, I’ve been wearing a lot of nail polishes during the month of January, but these are the only nail colors that stood out for me.

So those are the items that I’ve been loving/using last month. Hope you find this list somehow helpful. I’ve been doing this for three months now (Skipped last December due to the Hits List) and I enjoy doing this.

How about you guys? Do you use the products that I’ve mentioned earlier? Do you like them? Hate ’em? Let me know. Would love to hear your thoughts! See you on the next entry guys! x

Will have the items & rules posted tomorrow, promise!

Wooo that’s really a lot of haul! Some products are familiar to me and oh nelly I’m jealous of what you got, they’re expensive I’m really intrigued with the Snoe Cosmetics Poudre Extraordinaire. I’ve read a lot of good reviews about it and I can’t wait to try it myself too. Thanks for sharing, Yette! ♥

    • You’re welcome! Oh and its not a haul its my monthly favorites for January

      • Desire Loreto

Yea, knew that But thanks for noticing btw . Sana I can have those items too Ms. Yette I really love reading posts like this. It gives me an idea of what makeup products to buy next

  • Grabe daming products! I’m also looking for that awesome bronzer for contouring. What I’m using now is from TheFaceShop Lovely me:ex powder – dark shade. Okay naman siya pero I’m still looking for that one that has a very great staying power. Does Sleek stay for longer hours? Dami ko nadin nabasa maganda daw ung Revlon na whipped foundation. I’ll buy na talaga soon Thanks for sharing! Btw, which do you prefer? Lorac or Naked?

    • Tingnan mo nayon ko lang nakita to. Tsk…

Yes Sleek has a good staying power. If you have the Revlon Colorstay foundation then you can get the Revlon Whipped Cream foundation online (ie Bon Marche) para mas mura. Mas maganda Naked. Not that powdery compared to Lorac although Lorac is very pigmented as well.

      • Aw thanks for that. I’m saving for Lorac pa man din. It’s cheaper compared to Naked e. But I don’t like the brush included which I saw from Eyah. She has Naked 2 and the brush is a trash. It can’t get any product at all

        • True. Their brushes are ehh…

  • eyahnism

Assignment ko ang sleek at nyx blush on Ang dami mong favorites prang lahat gusto ko na din i favorite hahaa! The Poudre from snoe smell so good! as in ang sarap nya timplahin at gawing chocolate drink sa bango.

hihi.. Love to see your Feb favorites; )

        • Ill try to limit my Feb faves, lol

  • we have 1 common product here and im loving it so far.. it is the Celeteque Brightening Eye Tuck Plus Dark Circles Lightener

  • I really wanna try that brow powder from Pinkies Collection! I’ve been looking for a light brown brow product and it’s good that it has 2 colors in one! I think it will be a good addition to my collection.. However when I went to the mall to buy it, it was out of stock :|.. I also have the small stipple brush from elf and I use it to apply foundation even if it’s small and it gives me a flawless finish.. However, right after a few weeks when I have purchased it, it got broke. The ferrule and the wooden handle broke apart so it was very disappointing..

  • Lei Diwa
