L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip Stain in Eve – Swatches, Photos & Review

I don’t have much lip products from the brand L’oreal, I love their mascaras, eyeliners as well as their mini eyeshadow palettes, but other than that, I haven’t had the chance to try most of their products. However, ever since I saw these products floating around the Youtube beauty community, I was deeply intrigued. L’oreal Caresse Shine Lip Color/Stains were released in the United States last year, and I’ve been waiting for them to be released here in our country. These lippies were known to be the dupes of the YSL Glossy Stains which probably makes sense because L’oreal owns YSL. They’re known to have the same formula, only that YSL lasts longer than this product. Unfortunately, I cannot compare the two since I cannot afford those Glossy Stains. But, here’s my input about this nifty product…

L'oreal Caress Shine Lip Color in Eve

The L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip Color/Stains were released just this month in eight(8) “babydoll” colors. What I got was the shade “Eve”. Here’s what the product claims:

Easy-to wear, bright, candy-colored shades from the most vibrant fuchsia to the softest nude. From corals to peach to gentle pinks, the Shine Caresse palette flatters your complexion, enhances your smile and lifts your spirits!

SHINE CARESSE redefines shine to make it more natural and more modern thanks to a moist-look effect. It is a lip stain that:

has lip-gloss luster
has concentrated pigments
leaves lips soft and hydrated up to 6 hours
has a unique formula made with 30% water and 60% oil to moisturize and hydrate your lips

L'oreal Caress Shine Lip Color in Eve - Packaging

The lip stain comes in a gold, bullet-shapped tube with a transparent middle that shows the exact shade of the product. It also tells you how much lip stain you have left, since, well, it’s transparent. Personally, I love the packaging. It looks very classy, sturdy and dare I say (again) sleek. It’s actually something that L’oreal is good at which is packaging.

L'oreal Caress Shine Lip Color in Eve - Applicator

When opened, it reveals a teardrop/leaf-shaped applicator that for me pretty much does a good job in distributing the product evenly. If you’ve been reading my blog for quite some time now, you’ll know that I like priming my lips with a lip balm before applying any lip product, regardless if it’s a lip stick, lip gloss, etc. Being that said, I primed my lips prior to applying this lip stain and I thought it went well, I really liked loved the color, but when I looked closely, I noticed that it settled on the fine lines of my lips.

I tried again, I wiped away the product with a makeup cleansing wipe, and I reapplied it, and Voila! I loved it! The application went smoothly and it didn’t settle in my fine lines. It’s very pigmented it I really liked how it looked like in my lips even without a lip balm as a base. It’s weird, I know but I kinda think that priming my lips with a lip balm made the application of the lip stain kinda uneven.

L'oreal Caress Shine Lip Color in Eve - Swatch

L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip stain in ‘Eve’ is very pigmented and has a wet/watery formula when applied which is actually moisturizing but it dries out quickly. What I noticed however, is that during the time that I was wearing it, my lips were getting drier and drier as time goes by. Though it lasted me approximately five hours, I also noticed that the lip stain was slowly wearing out beginning at the edges of my lips inwards. Therefore, I think if you want to wear this the entire day/night, a quick retouch is necessary. Also if you want to keep your lips moisturized all throughout the day, you might want to keep a lip gloss handy, since the formula is quite drying as time progresses.

I haven’t had the chance to purchase the lighter shades, since my lips are actually quite pigmented, and I’m afraid that it wont show up. Also, I’m not comfortable trying out testers at the mall, so if I’m going to repurchase this product (which I might, some other time perhaps) I’ll probably getting another dark or medium shade.

Anyway, to summarize, here are some of my final thoughts regarding L’oreal Shine Caresse in ‘Eve’

Sleek, Classy, Sturdy packaging
Hydrating/moisturizing upon first application
Highly pigmented
Great color pay-off
Non-sticky formula
Lasts approximately five hours
What you see is what you get
Better applied without a lip balm
Glides on smoothly
Available at all leading drugstores & dept stores nationwide
Makes application uneven if applied with a lip balm
Dries out your lips as time goes by
Pricey (Any drugstore product which is PhP 500+ is pricey for me, lol)

Overall, I am really in love with this lippie, especially with this shade. I loved it the moment I applied it. I actually liked it even with the lip balm applied, but even more without it. It’s definitely something that I didn’t anticipate with a liquid lip color because I usually encounter problems with these types of products. Either because they emphasize the lines of my lips or they’re just way too sticky for me. However, this product is definitely not one of those, so I am definitely impressed with this one and I’m definitely looking forward to purchasing more shades in the near future.

R E P U R C H A S E ?

Definitely more pink shades! lol

So those are my thoughts regarding L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip Stain in “Eve”. I hope you find it helpful somehow. As I’ve mentioned, I’m definitely looking forward to buying more shades, in the near future. Also, I definitely would like to see more L’oreal products because I think they have a new set of products that were just released recently, so I can’t wait to see those as well.

How about you guys? Do you like this product? Do you have one of their Shine Caresse Lip Stains? What shade do you have? Do you plan on buying one? What’s your favorite drugstore product? Do you like liquid lipsticks/lip stains? Let me know!

I was watching a video of bethany of macbarbie07 kanina and she was using this. It;s her fave! Super pigmented daw and stays longer sa lips. Do you think this one is still applicable for those with dry lips? Coz you mentioned na parang yung texture nya changes dramatically. Supr dry ba to? I was planning rin kasi to buy this one, haha pero gusto PINK

    • It becomes tacky over time & nagddry din sha pagnakapagsettle na yung lipstick but its not as drying as a matte lip cream.

LOL anything above 500 bucks is also expensive for me! I’m a cheapskate, but if quality is superb, I won’t mind spending more than 500 bucks. Basing my judgment on your reviews, I think I’d go for Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain.
