Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara – Review & Photos
Anyway, enough with the intro..
This week, I’ll be reviewing the Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara. Now what’s with the ‘3D’? Just curious? Doesn’t the ‘Volume’ word pretty much says it all? Well, the reason that I bought this product was because Laura of xeverygirlx. She used this really often in most of her Makeup Tutorials, and I loved just how her lashes looked like afterwards. Well, her lashes were pretty even without mascara though. But this amplified the look of her lashes even more, which I really liked.
Per the packaging, this is what the mascara claims to deliver upon application. The photo below also included the ingredients that were used to manufacture the said product:
This mascara was launched early last year and has been raved about in the internet community ever since. Honestly, I’ve never heard that much buzz about Revlon Mascaras. I never used one until now. All I know is that according to some blogs I’ve read, they never live up to their expectations. But I guess this mascara changed everything, because this one is just receiving a lot of positive reviews
The product comes in a sleek black and silver plastic tube packaging. I really like it. Though I haven’t tried any of Revlon’s mascaras, aside from this one, I really like their packaging, especially this one. I have a tiny bit of concern about the label though. I sorta think that in time, especially when you have this in your makeup kit, the label might eventually fade. But who knows? I might be wrong
Before anything else, let’s get to the basics first…
|Product Name –||Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara|
|Shade –||Blackest Black|
|Price –||PhP 750|
|Weight –||0.34 fl.oz / 10.0 ml|
|Availability –||All major drugstores & department stores nationwide
The price indicated above is the drugstore/department store price. I however, did not purchase it there. I bought mine at Bon Marche. They were selling three pieces of mascaras for PhP 600 only (2 Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara – one in Blackest Black and Blackened Brown then 1 Maybelline Mega Plush Volumexpress Mascara). I thought it was a great bundle since these mascaras are quite pricey here, not to mention, we don’t have Mega Plush here, lol. Anyway, the mascara comes in three non-waterproof shades: Blackest Black, Blackened Brown and Black.
The mascara comes with a long, plastic wand, with bristles that help separates and coats each and every one of your lashes. You will have no problem wiggling your wand from the root to the very tip of your lashes, and I think its this wand that partly makes this mascara really effective. This mascara did great in defining, separating, and volumizing my eyelashes. Despite it’s main purpose which is ‘volumizing’ it did great in lengthening my eyelashes too!
The product has a wet formula but it dries quick upon application so if you need to apply 2-3 coats, you need to do it fast. This mascara is really great for holding the curls of your lashes, and it held mine for approximately 5 hours. It doesn’t flake nor does it clump, so long as you don’t apply more than 2 coats (trust me, you only need 2!). Since it’s not waterproof, it’s easy to remove with just a makeup remover or perhaps soap and water. My only downside to this product is that since my eyes are sometimes watery (due to the weather, lack of sleep, etc.) it smudges, which is pretty common to non-waterproof mascaras, anyway.
Anyway, feel free to take a look at the photos below…
So, to summarize, here are my thoughts about the said product…
| Sleek packaging
The wand’s bristles help separates and coat each and every one of your lashes
Volumizes, separates & lengthens
Doesn’t clump (with less than three coats)
Non-waterproof; Easy to remove
Waterproof (for those who prefers waterproof mascaras like me!)
Wet formula but dries quickly
Clumps (3 or more coats)
Overall, I like this mascara. It may not be my everyday ‘goto’ mascara, since it’s not waterproof, but I do recommend it. Though it’s pricey, you can always go online and buy it for a really sweet deal like I did. It didn’t have the faux lashes effect, but I liked it just fine. It didn’t weigh down my lashes nor did it clump after my second application, so basically, it’s something I’d love to keep in my makeup bag.
YES, I will. Online. For PhP 750?! Hoo boy!
So those are my thoughts about the Revlon Photoready 3D Mascara. I hope you find it helpful if you’re thinking about buying the said product. My advise is that you consider buying it online or at least in Bon Marche. They have a lot of affordable drugstore/high end makeup products. I don’t think you need to shell out PhP 750 for a (foreign) drugstore mascara.
Anyway, how about you guys? Do you like this mascara? Do you have this? Let me know through the comments below. Would love to hear from you lovelies
