Monthly Faves: September 2012

Okay, so I know that this is kind of traditional with regards to makeup/beauty blogs, so I thought, why not do my own? Right. The first draft that I created had more than 20 items in it. Seriously, that excludes nail polish. I was really looking forward to create a separate entry regarding at least my top 5 nail polish picks, something like that. But I decided to change it and just pick strictly makeup and nail polish products. But who knows? Maybe next month, if I’m really obsessed about a non-makeup product, I might include one. Lol.

Anyway, on to my September Faves

Yeah, I know. That’s a lot. And you might be staring at the last two items and you might tell me, wait! That’s cheating! You should have way more than 15 items! I know, but I thought I’d just explain and specify each shade later rather than just count them individually. Anyway, here’s why I like each of these items. Oh, and here’s me, hoping that this post wont be ‘THAT’ long. Lol

I. MeMeMe Flawless Cream Foundation

MeMeMe Flawless Cream Foundation
MeMeMe Flawless Cream Foundation (PhP 899 @ MakeUpHub)

MeMeMe Flawless Cream Foundation (SPF 15) — This is the second liquid foundation that I’ve tried, and this has worked wonders for me. It didn’t give me any breakouts, it lasted for more than 10 hours in my face, and it has great coverage, I seriously recommend this to everyone. Back when I purchased this, I wasn’t really a fan of liquid foundations because I was kinda scared of how ‘heavy’ it was on the skin. But because I’ve been hearing positive reviews about this product, when my Bhez and I went to the Phil-Cosmetics Expo, I immediately went to MakeUpHub’s booth and purchased myself one of their flawless face collection and this product hasn’t failed me ever since. Because of my fascination towards this, I was able to accept the fact that not all liquid foundations are harmful on your skin. You just have to learn to find out what’s best for you. (Click here to find out more about their Flawless Face collection).

II. Shawill Natural Looking Blemish Balm

Shawill Natural Looking Blemish Balm

Shawill Natural Looking Blemish Balm (SPF 25) — I love this BB Cream. It’s affordable, provides a sheer to medium coverage, and it doesn’t give me a very dewy finish. I mean, I’m okay with having a dewy/glowy finish, that’s sorta like a BB cream signature, but having an uber dewy skin after BB cream application, is a bit too much for me. I also love their packaging, it comes in a very sleek black tube with a silver label. You guys know that I am such a sucker for packaging. The only thing that I kinda don’t like about this is that, despite the nifty packaging, after using a couple of times, it’s kinda hard to get the product out of the tube. Ugh. But I recommend this. I kinda have a sensitive skin, and when some products dont work for me, it gives me bumps and redness, and I’ve never had issues with this one as well.

III. MaxFactor Facefinity Compact Foundation

MaxFactor Facefinity Compact Foundation

MaxFactor Facefinity Compact Foundation (SPF 15) — As you can see, I’ve already hit pan with this particular product. That’s how much I LAH-OVE this product. This compact foundation mattifies my skin like no other. It provides great coverage and can be worn alone even without BB cream or liquid foundation underneath. I love this. The only issue that I have with this is that it’s pricey. It really is. Dang! For PhP 799 it doesn’t even come with a box! You get a sealed compact foundation and that’s it. Well, I don’t mind really, I kinda throw away the box, so there ya go. (yeah, I’m that kind of person, I don’t keep the packaging except when I really like it). Anyway, this month actually I’m trying a new product and it’s the Human Heart Nature Perfect Coverage Mineral Foundation in Honey, but it’s not really as good as this one. I actually dropped that one (lol, I’m very clumsy and I end up dropping my makeup all the time) and this is the only makeup that gave up on me with just a single drop (well, two times actually, lol). But I repaired it, and it’s good as new (kinda). But it’s still not as great as this one. Moving on.

IV. MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Enriched Moisturizing Facebase

MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Enriched Moisturizing Facebase

MeMeMe Seventh Heaven Enriched Moisturizing Facebase — This, for me smells like heaven in a jar. No kidding. I am not really a fan of of facial products which are scented, but for this item, I will definitely make an exemption. This goes perfectly with my MeMeMe Flawless Cream Foundation. However, this also goes well with any liquid foundation that you may have. This prolongs the staying power of my liquid foundation, which is even better than my ELF Mineralized Facial Primer. It’s a bit costly though, but for what I’m getting, it’s definitely worth it. (Click here for a further review about this product)

V. In2it Waterproof Eyebrow Palette 01

In2it Waterproof Eyebrow Palette 01

In2it Waterproof Eyebrow Colour (ER 01 Eyebrowns w/ Moisturizer Vitamin E) — I’ve always thought that my Wet N’ Wild Ultimate Brow Kit was my sorta like irreplaceable goto eyebrow kit, and that I wouldn’t have to purchase another kit. But ever since I colored my hair, I kinda realized that the colors in that kit made my eyebrows a little too defined. It was okay, but if I wanted to make it a little more neutral or gentle, it’ll be a lot of work. I still love that one, but this one, however, has three colors, not as pigmented though, but it turns out that THAT is a good thing. With it’s texture/consistency, you can control just how much product you would like to end up on your eyebrows. And with having three different shades, you can combine two or even three of them to compose your desired shade and perfectly define your brows. This is why I love this palette. I recommend this for beginners rather than the Wet N Wild Ultimate Brow kit, because if you’re not too careful with the Wet N Wild one, you might end up having a very defined brows. With this one, you can control, and learn how to contour your eyebrows perfectly.

Urban Decay Naked Palettes (Original & Naked 2 Palette) — I love these palettes! I’ve been using these palettes like A LOT recently. You know that “10 makeup items I would repurchase” tag? This would definitely be one or two of those items. But if you ask me to choose which one of these two palettes, I honestly can’t! The original Naked palette is composed mostly of warm colors (browns, golds, nudes), perfect for those with yellow undertones, while the Naked 2 palette is composed of cooler tones (taupes, greys, silvers) perfect for those with pink undertones. BUT, I don’t really follow these guidelines. As previously mentioned, I love to experiment, I even combine these two palettes in one single look. So if you ask me to pick a single one, then you’re gonna have to wait for me to think things through. If you’re like me, and you love nude, neutral colors, then I suggest you grab one of these palettes, because you definitely wont regret it. If you’re into browns, then you’ll definitely enjoy the original Naked palette. But if you would like to experiment, and would love to try on some taupes, grey and silvers, then go on and try the Naked 2 palette. Or why not purchase both of them! But if you’re on a budget, you can always grab one of these palettes. It has all of the neutral shades you definitely would love to try, for a lesser price.

VII. Elf Blushes (Candid Coral & Peachy Keen)

Elf Blushes In Candid Coral & Peachy Keen — These two blush powders are my goto blushes for like the entire month of September. I found out about “Candid Coral” through Judy from ItsJudyTime, so I bought one. And dang! This one gives my cheeks a really pretty glow, and works great when I contour my cheeks. Another one is ‘Peachy Keen’, which is the one I use when I would like to go for a no makeup-makeup look, or something like an all neutral look. I know it kinda sounds weird, but Peachy Keen is the kind of blush for me that doesn’t need a bronzer because it’s already, well, peachy. Lol. Candid Coral, however, gives your cheeks that natural glow/flush that you usually get when you’re excited, happy, in love, perhaps? It gives you that pinky, corally glow without going overboard. If you know what I mean. I love Elf Blushes. They’re very pigmented and they give you the best quality for such an affordable price.

VIII. Mememe Boho Balm Lip & Cheek Tint

Mememe Boho Balm Lip & Cheek Tint
Mememe Boho Balm Lip & Cheek Tint (PhP 450 @ MakeUpHub)

Mememe Boho Balm Lip & Cheek Tint In Pink Rouge — I was a bit reluctant to try this one, even after seeing some positive reviews and Say’s Boho Balm review. But after seeing like a number of people raving about this product, I was like ‘Eh, what the heck!’, so I purchased one. This does provide a dewy finish which kinda fakes the natural glow that you may have on your skin when you’re flushed, which I so love. You may set this with a translucent powder, or you may leave this as is. I personally want it this way, although sometimes I set it if I find that my entire face is really dewy. I love using the pink side as my blush and the red as my lip tint. The red side is not actually that red when you apply it on your lips using your (clean) finger, it actually is quite sheer, hence, making the shade appear a bit coral-ly, which as you all know (or maybe not) I am a fan of.

IX. Mememe Flwless Loose Powder

Mememe Flwless Loose Powder

Mememe Flwless Loose Powder (Transluscent) — I love this powder. This is perfect either for setting your liquid foundation or for setting all of your makeup. Either way, it works great especially when I am not really in the mood using any of my compact foundations, and I just would like to rely on my foundation’s original shade, this works great in keeping all of my makeup intact.

X. KPalette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24-Hour Waterproof 1 Day Tattoo In Super Black

KPalette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24-Hour Waterproof 1 Day Tattoo

KPalette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24-Hour Waterproof 1 Day Tattoo In Super Black — When I first purchased this item, I wasn’t really fond of lining my eyes using a liquid/pen eyeliners, much less doing a winged one. But when I tried this out, dang! It was like I’ve been using this for months. The tip made it easier for me to control how much product I would like to put on, and how ‘winged’ I would like it to be. All of a sudden it was so easy for me. That’s not all, I also became fond of my other liquid eyeliners, that I got a hang of using them too, even though they have different tips, and I suddenly disliked using gel/cream liners. Further, this one lasted me for more than 8-10 hours. I’m not sure about the 24 hours, I haven’t tested that yet, lol. But this is really smudge proof, even with a makeup remover, it was quite a bit of challenge to remove, which for me is really cool. I love this and I definitely recommend this even if you’re just a beginner. (Click here for further info regarding this item.)

XI. Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On

Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On

Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On — I haven’t really used this yet for like the entire month because I recently bought this, and I’ll be doing a review about this product, so that I can give you my detailed opinion about this product, but anyway. Of all my mascara purchases this September, this is the one the has impressed me so far. It separates, volumizes and lengthens my lashes like crazy, I love it. The only downside to this particular mascara is that for me, it’s not really ideal to use in your lower lash line. I don’t really recommend it, unless you have like a va-va-voom lashes. But if you have a really sparse lower lashes like me, then I wont use this, I’d rather use a different product for that area alone. But other than that, this product is like, wow.

XII. Lip Ice Sheer Color Lip Balm

Lip Ice Sheer Color Lip Balm

Lip Ice Sheer Color Lip Balm — I love Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm, and the Nivea Lip Balms, and every time I saw this product I just ignore ’em. But I’ve been hearing rave reviews about them, saying that their uber moisturizing and their flavors are not that bad either. So seeing that they’re quite inexpensive, I thought I’d give it a shot. Most beauty websites were recommending this particular product (Sheer Color) and they’re saying that it ‘transforms’ your lips into its original color only better. Kinda like the Baby Lips Glow. This one tastes so good, kinda like the Strawberry flavored Boom Boom Lollipops (before they changed their ingredients) and they’re very affordable as well. It’s very moisturizing and it really does transform my lips into its original pink lips, only better. It’s not too waxy, too soft, or kinda messy upon application, but this one works wonders for me, and I love this one. I definitely recommend this to everyone.

XIII. Glam Works Make Up Remover Cleansing Wipes

I have already reviewed this product, which can be viewed right here. As mentioned there, this product works wonders in removing makeup, however, it smells a bit citrus-y. I’m not really that great in describing scents, but all I can say is that if you’re not a fan of scented items, then this is not for you, but if you don’t mind it, (because I seriously don’t) then go grab one of these, because it’s very affordable, and it definitely works. The smell is not that overpowering, besides, it’s not like you’re going to wear it, right?

XIV. My Five Goto Lipsticks

Okay, so here are my Five Goto Lipsticks (Listed according their swatches from top to bottom):
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Dolly Pink (PhP 150.00)
WNW Mega Last Matte Lip Color in In The Flesh (PhP 150 in Ebay)
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Coral Berry (PhP 450 in SM Dept Stores)
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Matte in Pink Pout (PhP 475 in SM Dept Stores)
Revlon Lip Butters in Peach Parfait (PhP 380 in Kitshop)
Models Own Matt Brite in Annalise’s Pink (PhP 400 in MakeUpHub)

Okay, so those are my goto lippies for the month of September. I have been using those lipstick non-stop ever since I purchased them either online or at SM Department stores. I especially love Annalise’s Pink & my Nyx Dolly Pink Lip Gloss especially when I do an all-over pink look, and my Peach Parfait Lip butter when I just go for an all nude smokey eye look. I just love how each and everyone of these lippies tie all of my makeup look all together.

XV. My Eight Goto Nail Polishes

My Five Goto Lippies
My Eight Goto Nail Polishes

Okay, so I really thought long and hard whether or not to include nail polishes in my September favorites, but I just can’t NOT include them. I am a nail polish addict and not including them in my September faves is just not right. But the thing is, I have a lot of faves, and I’m not really the one who repeats shades that often, but among all of the nail lacquers that I’ve been using lately, the ones that are either on my fingernails or on my toes pretty much often are the following:

Models Own (Magenta Divine)
Jocarste Nail Polish (Shade #642)
Miss Beauty Sanding Fruit Extract (Shade #18)
Miss Beauty Sanding Fruit Extract (Shade #05)
Revlon Nail Enamel (#640 Fearless)
Cutex Wowing Wonder Woman
Cutex That’s Haute Pink
Cutex Some Kind of Wonder Blue

I love each and every one of these nail lacquers. I am so into plain, solid colors right now, I am not into frosted nail polishes, and for that I love Revlon and Cutex nail polishes. They’re very opaque and you don’t need to apply multiple coats, which is usually a problem when dealing with these types of nail polishes. Grainy polishes are trending lately, and I am loving the Miss Beauty Nail Polishes. They have silver particles in them which makes them very unique and such a stand out among other grainy polishes that we have in the market. Glitter polishes are never out of style. The Model’s Own Magenta Divine, Cutex Wowing Wonder Woman & Jocarste #642 are very ideal for topping of plain nail polishes, and they’re very unique and they can give your nails that sparkle that you need without making it a bit too overbearing.

So, these are all of my favorites for the month of September 2012, I hope that my long list as well as my explanation as to why I love them did not bore you to pieces. I know that I promised you my makeup sesh with my niece, but don’t worry I’m going to update about that soon. I just realized that it’s October already and I need to post my September Favorites, lol.
