Miss Beauty Sanding Fruit Extract Nail Polish Review

Last Tuesday, I went to the Landmark Department store at Trinoma to do my usual beauty haul and one particular nail polish brand caught my eye. It was the Miss Beauty Sanding Fruit Extract Nail Polish. From the packaging itself (as you guys may already be aware of, I am such a sucker for good packaging), to the nail color, it is really attractive. Each and every color enticed me, I ended up picking every shade, no matter how similar they are to each other. Unfortunately, when I saw them under normal lighting, I ended up picking only these two.

Just like all of the other brands that Landmark carry, Miss Beauty Nail Polishes offer a wide array of shades that will definitely make you want to purchase not only one but two or more colors. Just to satisfy either your curiosity or your pure addiction to nail lacquers. However, what I noticed from their nail polish shades is that they are very similar from one another, so you’re going to have to be careful in picking what you really like. Also, they don’t have any name for each of their shades. What they do have is a shade number, but it’s kinda hard to decipher it because Landmark places it’s sticker barcode on top of it. In fact, I just noticed their shade/nail polish numbers when I got home, after removing the barcode sticker. This actually pissed me off. Because what if I bought two similar shades? It’s not as if their lighting is very helpful. Duh! Anyway, sorry for the tiny, unnecessary rant. Moving forward.

The nail polish has a ‘sandy/grainy’ texture. I guess that’s why they call it ‘Sanding Fruit Extract’. Actually if you’re familiar of the texture & formula of the Chic Grainy Nail Polishes, it’s actually very similar. What you’ll notice in this one, however, is that this one has some silver glitters/particles in it that makes it a lot more shimmery. Did that make sense? I hope so. Lol.

What I noticed upon application is that the nail polish is quite a bit too sheer. You need to layer it up to at least three coats in order to see its actual color, and in order to fully cover your nails. Unfortunately, what you see in from the bottle is not exactly what you’ll get. Unless you’re willing to apply 10938023424280219480 coats in your fingernails, the shade will appear at least a bit lighter than the one you see from the bottle. It’s kinda disappointing, but not a big deal.

I tried to leave it without a top coat in order to retain its grainy/rough texture. After all, that’s what the nail polish is all about right? (IMO). But I decided to opt against it because I find the color a bit dull and too ‘pastel/light’. Then I used my favorite Top Coat (Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat), and Voila! The lifeless color became shinier, and everything, including the tiny silver particles popped out of nowhere. The effect of the top coat totally amazed me.

Great packaging.
Contains some silver glitters that made it a lot more shimmery
Texture doesn’t change when applied w/ top coat
Color becomes a lot more shiny/shimmery when applied w/ top coat
Does not feel too thick and slimy even with four coats (Yes four!)
Very sheer. Need to layer three or more coats in order to cover your entire nail bed
Finish product does not match the look on the bottle
Their shades are very similar to one another. You have to check their shade # in order to be sure.
If I’m not mistaken, this is not available at SM Department Stores.

I had such high expectations from this product when I first saw and purchased it. I can’t say that I was/am disappointed, but some of them weren’t met. Like, the color for instance. Apparently, what you see isn’t exactly what you get. Also, it’s really sheer. I wish that this product was a bit more opaque. I’ve experienced Grainy nail polishes which are a bit more opaque.

As for the price, I really cannot say that much with regards to the price, because I dig the silver glitters that makes this item quite unique among the Grainy/Sandy nail lacquers that I’ve encountered so far. So PhP 64.75 is not bad for me. Besides, this product, before I forget does not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, Acetone, DBP & etc. So I guess that’s the reason why it’s a bit pricey.

But if you’re not into grainy nail lacquers and would just like to try ’em, I suggest you try the Chic ones first and see how it goes from there. Mkay?

I’m actually not sure. I don’t think I’ll be going near Landmark anytime soon. But if given the chance, then maybe. Just to try on the other shades.

The pink one looks SO pretty! These do look more glittery than the Chic grainy polishes. These are nice in their own way.
